I just realized that this is an ancient thread, anyway I've been a happy mac user for five (5) years, have both the MB & an iMac & i'm getting another MB in a few weeks. well worth it.

If wondering, I'm not 100% happy with my new Mid-2010 iMac system either. Especially for our $2,000 newly purchased iMac 21.5" system...

If wondering.... It had NO H/W problems on the first shot. No yellow, no loud HDD for internal FAX noises, no scratches, etc. etc. From a H/W perspective, it is as expected. Thus, it was a keeper on day 1...

Now, 1.5 months later and the "new" feeling has calmed down:

My only "beef" about our new iMac is the lack to change fonts in a single location. I must use TinkerTool to change many fonts and even then, it doesn't work in all locations. Currently, I have fonts set to 18. Sometimes, 16. Anything below 16 is too hard to read - on the more "higher resolution screen". Some folks are complaining of headaches from their new 27" system. The 27" has even higher DPIs (which means smaller font / menu sizes) - which means even more eye strain. I changed to lower Screen Resolution (which created better size fonts / menus) but the images have a slight blur. Thus, back to high-res and more "playing around" with TinkerTool. A 3rd party program to fix this Apple design gap. Even then, TickerTool won't change some application menu sizes.

Why can't Mac OS X have a simple "use large fonts / menus" feature like within Win xx systems? Within that system, one simply does a checkmark and all fonts "and menus" become larger - without becoming a blur. Why can't Mac OS X have this feature? If wondering, I hear previous Mac OS versions had this feature. Why can't they put in back into Mac OS X - even as an update?

If Apple would fix this OS setting, I'd be 100% satisfied with the Mac OS X systems. And, if would be great if they could "turn down" their backlighted LED displays as well. Some eyes cannot handle the Super HD "over driving colors" - that seems blast my 21.5" screen. For a $2,000 system, perhaps I expected this "use large fonts / menus" ability to exist. Especially since the Mac OS is suppose to be 3 times better then Win xx systems....

Hopefully, Mac OS X has a future update or perhaps future OS that allows larger fonts/menus "on a global level". If not, my wife & I will be going back to Win xx systems - that are more comforting on our older age eyes. Reading too small of fonts is straining our eyes. And yes, we both have normal vision eyes. All we want is "comfort reading" settings.... Something that should be easy on the new technology graphic based Mac OS X systems...
