Hey, how are you liking your Xs so far? Like you I have an 8+, and am extremely on the fence about which one I'm getting. I love the screen of the Max, but at times the overall size of the phone is a pain. Just wondering your thoughts so far.
Thanks
Devin

Different person than the one you asked, but I did the same: upgraded from the 8+ to the XS. If I discount the connection issues (which are truly infuriating), I can honestly say I love the phone.

The size is perfect for me. The screen is magnificent--it's a lovely upgrade from the 8+ display. The phone is noticeably faster too, which surprised me, as my 8+ was plenty fast. The cameras are fantastic, and much improved from a lighting perspective. The speakers are better, and I loved the sound on my 8+.

The biggest reason I love the thing though is the size: I'm so much happier having a smaller phone again. Now if Apple could just solve my LTE issues o_O

Oh, one last thing! I knew I was forgetting something. I *love* FaceID. It works perfectly for me. All I ever do is pick up the phone and swipe up, and it's always unlocked. It's like magic.

Lot of people have been testing these at Disneyland. Could it be congestion there? I know for a fact when I go to a basketball game, I have zero chance of receiving a call or sending a text. 23,000 people, all mostly on AT&T...not happening.
Generally his has been the case at events. I was pleasantly surprised at my rock solid service at Soldier Field last weekend on my XS (Verizon).

I'm showing 2 bars of LTE and my rsrp0 shows -116. Does that make ANY sense???

Still band 13 on Verizon.

crouch, thank you for your reply. Just like you, I love my 8+ but the size can be a pain. I hear you on the connection issues, that's the reason I haven't upgraded yet. A friend and his wife in my area both have issues with their phones. We all have Verizon, and we were at a school event for our kids and they couldn't get/make calls but my 8+ in the next seat was fine. We had the same issues when the 7 series came out and by the time I upgraded all was fine. Just going to wait a bit and see what happens. How's your battery life compared to your 8+?

That article only showed some speed comparisons based on some ideal scenario. They didn’t test the Intel modem against the Qualcomm in terms of signal reacquisition. That was the main issue last year on the X with Intel. The Intel chip was way slower to reconnect and it might be still the case with this year’s Intel chip as well. So allegedly weak antenna and this Intel modem behavior might be causing these issues on the Xs.
What it shows is the modem is more than capable. The real question is antennas. Everything else is just software and can be fixed.

I came from a 6S Plus to the Max and since my last 2 phones were Plus’s, I thought I’d be happy with the Max. I so wanted to love the Max and would have been satisfied if I hadn’t had the cellular connectivity problems with the 2 that I tried. So when others on this thread spoke of how they went with the X, I did a search and was able to find one at Best Buy.

First thing - no more connectivity issues. The X just works like I expect it to. I’m actually enjoying this phone. And the other thing is - while I’ve been used to the Plus size phones - the Max, although the same size, just felt bulkier and heavier to me. As you see by my prior posts, I had the thinnest and lightest cases to not add any additional bulk. I know that weight wise the Max was only an ounce or so heavier, but that little bit put it over the top for me. The X has hit the sweet spot for me. I just really enjoy this phone in all aspects. I have the excitement of a new phone that works, even though it’s last year’s model. Happy Camper here!

And what am I doing today? Waiting at my daughter’s house for the delivery of her XR. LOL She’s always had the smaller sized phones, so it’ll be interesting to see how she likes her new coral XR. I almost thought of getting an XR but went with the X instead and have no regrets.

You could have written my summary. Love the phone, but hate the connection issues. Unfortunately, I REALLY need a phone that works well as a phone, so no XS for now.

-116 isnt good..

Better than -88dBm RSRP is a strong signal
Between -89dBm and -96dBm is a very good signal
Between -97dBm and -105dBm is good
Between -106dBm and -112dBm is fair
Worse than -113dBm RSRP is poor

Yes, so why does it show 2 bars of LTE? That's the confusing part.
The bars don't mean much of anything. They can have them display however they wish. I'm at -117 right now and have 2 bars. I find that the bars aren't related to that too much. I'm pretty much always at that at work or home no matter which phone I use.
I'm getting 19.4Mbps down and 5.91Mbps up. Which is pretty normal for being at work at this time. Speeds go up significantly during the wee morning hours.

Has anyone heard back recently from the engineers? Just wondering if there have been any updates, or did they go silent?

I called the one that contacted me and left a message. Never heard from him again.
The last I heard was Tuesday evening and that was from the 2nd senior adviser I had been in touch with. She said engineering advised they were aware of the issue and working on it. However vague that may be, I was still glad to have heard at all. I had never been in any direct contact with engineering though.

I noticed on my X a downgrade to my 6S now I feel like my reception on the Xs Max is even worse.

The 8plus is also better than the X.

What is your experiance?

I feel like having more often no 3G or LTE/4G or Even no reception

what is your region also what is your iphone model number... on back of box starts with A.. 5 characters

The LTE is terrible. The WiFi is worse. Sometimes my wifi will just freeze and I have to toggle it on/off to get it to work again (I assume this is due to switching between 2 and 5).

This POS cost $1500!! Absolutely infuriating. I hope a Class action suit is brought against Apple. The number of complaints is crazy.

Where are you located and what is your carrier, out of curiosity?

I would exchange it as it clearly sounds like it has a problem. My wifi is flawless.

Can I even do that? Im way past 14 days. I can not stomach having to deal with the Genius Bar people who will not come to the same conclusions anyway as a test in the store will not yield the same results as im having at home nor can I recreate the problems at will.

I guess I can call them and scream until they do something.

Of course you can. You can't return but you can exchange. On my unifi access points it switches from 2.4 to 5ghz without issue. And handoff is flawless moving from one access point on one floor to another access point on another floor.

Not necessarily. iPhones and routers (from all sorts of manufacturers and models) have a long and distinguished history of not playing together nicely.

I don't know about that. It's certainly not part of my experience. And I have used tons of routers over the years from many different brands.
