The notch is certainly better than those Samsung designs with the black bars at the top and bottom. At least the notch is distinct and clearly defined, unlike those bars which try to pretend they don't exist.

Distinct? Sure. Defined? Not seeing how the notch defines anything. It’s intention is to house the hardware needs for Face ID. The only time you’ll notice the notch, is when the screen is illuminated, otherwise, it looks like any other iPhone display from what we’ve seen in the past.

The notch is nothing. I mean really. People like to complain but it's really not that big of a deal. In 2020 Apple will redesign it some, perhaps shrink it or find a way to minimize it's real estate on the screen (which isn't bad now).

And I'll take the dreaded notch over the paper punch that Samsung tried to do this year. Looks more natural.
