I can confirm that iTunes 12.9.5.5 works in macOS Tahoe 26.0.1.Is there any way to run iTunes 12.9.5.5 on Tahoe? I read this entire thread and everything looks kinda complicated, especially with no actual dmg file for this version. I love my 12.8 but kinda missing dark mode.
Thank you @bogdanw everything works perfectly, you're a genius and savior 👋👋👋I can confirm that iTunes 12.9.5.5 works in macOS Tahoe 26.0.1.
iTunes 12.9.5.5 was never released as a dmg, so we have to extract it from Mojave 10.14.6, as explained here https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/itunes-12-6-5-3-on-macos-catalina-10-15.2184518/post-32010794
To run in Tahoe, additional modifications are required https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/itunes-12-6-5-3-on-macos-catalina-10-15.2184518/post-32588314

As I recall you mentioned going to a different version of iTunes so one other thing to try is to trash the iTunes preferences file.Did it but still same error occurring when trying to change tags.
Just tried it, unfortunately no help, that damn crashing error still persist ☹️As I recall you mentioned going to a different version of iTunes so one other thing to try is to trash the iTunes preferences file.
I find that there is something going on as my preferences don't always fully stick as I assume there is some process running in the background, possibly related to the Music app, that causes this. I made a script to replace the preferences file when this happens with a preference file that I previously saved that has iTunes configured the way I want. In my case, I know when it happens as I see that Genius has been turned on and I always leave that off.
Sorry to hear that. Maybe you'll have to go back to your previous version if it persists.Just tried it, unfortunately no help, that damn crashing error still persist ☹️
