I’m using iTunes 12.9.5.5. I was over the “Music” app. I got tired of clicking from one folder to the next.

Just find this golden thread, thanks for OP opening discussion how to run iTunes on Catalina.

One of several reason I’m still rocking Mojave because I still hesitant to transferring my heavy curated music library from 2008, I don’t want Music App became my main hub.

I was testing music App from coworkers Catalina and yikes, the UI are too iOS-ish being expanded into desktop environment. Not my taste at all. Had searching some alternative like Swinsian, but the dev are kind like slacking off, he doesn’t implement dark mode. Oh my we already have two MacOS version ships with dark interface, and Swinsian dev looks not bother to implement.

It might be inevitable, to upgrade newer OS eventually. At least with retroactive solution I can start embrace new OS 10.15 and onwards.

All what has been said in this thread works perfectly in Mojave and my idea is to stay with Mojave for ages...not kidding !
I love my music too, understand your point of view.
There is another thread that helps to avoid being pushed to Catalina, if that interest you too.

On macOS Catalina 10.15.5, CodeWeavers CrossOver 19.0.2 can be used to install the Windows version of iTunes 12.6.5.3 32-bit in a Windows 10 x32 bottle. It can download/update the apps in your Mac library. It should work on Mojave too, but I haven't tested it.

Foolishly, I’ve only tried the 64-bit version before, which does not work in a Windows 10 x64 bottle.
The good people at PlayOnMac (https://www.playonmac.com) are working hard on a Catalina version, but the latest version I tested (https://www.playonmac.com/en/topic-16558-3.html#m66471) doesn’t work with iTunes 12.6.

Thanks for the infos!
Very Interesting both: how safe is it to use it?
Would PlayOnMac work on Mojave with the 32-bit version ?
Between the two CodeWeavers CrossOver and PlayOnMac, which one is the best?
Beside of course the fact that PlayOnMac is free 😊

iTunes installed with CrossOver only connects to Apple servers.

CodeWeavers has been around for a long time and you can find the company referenced in Apple's code https://www.google.com/search?&q=CodeWeavers+site:opensource.apple.com
CrossOver and PlayOnMac use Wine https://www.winehq.org
I'll try on Mojave today and report back.

I have tried multiple Win7 and Win10 bottles and keep running into a C++ library error when I try to execute iTunes after a successful install into the bottle.

I'll try out your Wine installation instead and report back.

Weirdly, after getting iTunes 32-bit to work in the Windows 10 32-bit bottle, iTunes 64-bit is working in the Windows 10 64-bit bottle. They even run simultaneously.
In both cases, I unchecked these boxes during installation and choose No at the AutoRun question.

Hopefully Apple fixes itunes problems on macOS starting today

Ahah! I followed it for the same reason but no luck: we need to send emails to Craig Federighi.
The next big step 😉 , find his email LOL

If iOS apps run unmodified in macOS Big Sur, does it mean that App Store downloads ipa files? :)

I will try it. I want to use iTunes 12.6.5 on MacOS 11. And I can’t understand how we can extract ipa files on MacOS 11. In iOS we haven’t ipa files. We use .app files for each app.

Honestly, there is a problem on beta servers. I downloaded macOS Sierra (8gb) and I updated it to Catalina (9gb) but I cant download Big Sur:(
