Just tried to activate my new 3G iphone and got the -9838 error message in itunes store. Anyone else have this? Is it just because the activation process is over worked?

Anyone know when it might be back to working?

I'm getting the same error. The whole store is backed up. I finally gave up and came home to do it... same error they got in store....

Well, I'll just get some sleep since I was up all night in the line (first in the line in Toronto's Bay Street Rogers store!)

Same error here. Grrrrrrrr.

Something tells me this is an O2 problem and not an Apple problem.

this is such bull! this is exactly what i knew was going to happen....apple should have released 2.0 earlier this week BEFORE the 3G launch so previous iphone owners could download the update and be done with it!!!! which would have decreased the number of people accessing itunes!

The Apple store said iTunes is down. They said I could wait until it comes up or take it home and activate from home. So it's not up yet, I guess.

Yep. Error code 9838. Called ATT and CSR told me iTunes was down, confirmed by Apple. Grrrrr. Didnt you f*******g people learn from last year what was to come. This is unacceptable especially when one waits in line since midnight. Couldnt "unbrick" it in the store and now I cant activate it at home. Cheers to another successful iphone launch.

Tired and frustrated

It might be best if we all just stop trying for a bit, could take a little bit of load off Apple's servers.

EDIT: Forget that, I think I'm getting through now :D
