Finally managed to buy one after this morning's O2 farce, put my old SIM in it (upgrade) and now I get this blasted -9838 error. Not a good day really :(

3 hours and still holding. I can only make emergency calls, and am still getting a -9838 error message.

Same problem upgrading my 1st gen iPhone. It's totally bricked...no phone, no text, no nothing. I'm starting to consider whether I should have just switched to a BlackBerry...

Calm down. It's only a matter of waiting. If waiting a few hours is too much for you, maybe you should've just gotten a Blackberry.

As much as we all hate waiting because the iTunes servers are down, this comment is pretty ridiculous. The reason you got the iPhone was for the experience of something that works great. Remember how RIM's service went out a couple months ago? All the BlackBerries in the world were down.

Saying this sentence is like a customer going into JCPenney to buy a pair of jeans, realizing they're two dollars more than they thought, and saying, "That's it, I'll never shop here again! I'm going to Macy's!"

Totally ridiculous.

No activation here too. Been refreshing for 1.5 hours.

Getting the "We could not complete your itunes store request. Connection timed out."

Good news is it's charged.

I think Steve's been taking customer service tips from Bill :p

Regardless of the trouble my comment stirred up, that BB is looking better and better as the minutes and hours roll by...

I had the -9838 problem for about an hour, then it suddenly worked, backing up, installing and syncing takes soooo long, and then i get the -4 error. i called in sick especially for this today, and now i kinda wish i'd gone to work.

i can't even access the app store because it's telling me my account has changed, but won't let my verify the details.

no phone, no sms, no e-mail, but at least i can play with the new calculator :(
