For many titles, you can right-click on the image in the iTunes Store in order to copy the URL to your clipboard. Next, you can open a web browser and paste in the link, which will open a page with a thumbnail version of the artwork. You can then right-click the artwork in the web browser to open the image in another tab. Finally, you can delete the final part of the URL for the image to reveal the full-resolution version. For example, the URL for the thumbnail of The Bourne Ultimatum is:
http://a1.phobos.apple.com/us/r1000/018/Features/91/fa/8b/dj.ykamvrxh.170x170-75.jpg

If you remove the ".170x170-75" part of the URL, you get:
http://a1.phobos.apple.com/us/r1000/018/Features/91/fa/8b/dj.ykamvrxh.jpg

This trick only works for about half the items in the iTunes Store, so your results may vary… Other than these tricks, the only surefire way I know of to get the artwork for any item is to purchase/rent it.

Good luck!

Yeah, I knew that one, and it only works for urls with "features" in them. Anyway, thanks so much for your time.

Every week or so, I launch Front Row on my Mac, and I browse through the top 10 best-selling movies & TV Shows on iTunes. By doing that, a temporary folder is created on the Mac's hard drive that contains the cover art for each of those items. After quitting Front Row, I navigate to that temporary folder and save the artwork in a non-temporary location. (The folder is tmp/Front Row/Images.)

A very interesting method I hadn't thought of. Where is the folder the artwork is saved in? I'd love to try and do this for movies and TV shows every once in a while. Haven't played in Front Row in quite a while, but hopefully it has more than just a top 10 section to view.

First, click the menu Go in Finder, then Go to Folder..., paste /tmp/Front Row/Images into the box. Then open Front Row, navigate through the movies you want, then close the app. Then, QUICKLY copy all the files in the Images folder you just opened (or the folder itself) before they get DELETED. You'll see a bunch of files that have no extension, just add .jpg to the end of those files and there you have it. Done it on Mac os x snow leo.

Anyone knows what happened to getvideoartwork?

At this time there's no telling when/if it will come back up. I'm a mod there and been talking to the owner of the site and he's having problems with the host. Apparently their restrictions are on number of files, not space or bandwidth, and GVA obviously has tons of files. It's not even just the artwork itself that's causing the problems though, it's the cached files of the thumbnails and so forth. He's having to go in manually and clear out all the cache files more than once a week, and that process takes hours.

I'm hoping he hasn't given up on the site completely, but with all the outages lately, I have a feeling he's going to be calling it quits if he hasn't already. :(

[Edit: Since my reply the site owner messaged me to let me know that GVA is back up and running. No telling when the cache file overload might bring it back down, but he's keeping an eye on it. He's shopping around for a host that doesn't have a 200,000 file limitation, so if anyone knows one please feel free to let me know and I'll pass it along.]
