🤯 I never woulda realized that on my own! always reflexively switch to landscape before putting videos on. And yep, I’m on iPad.

It’s a common pattern in iPad apps to reuse the same (same-sized) elements from portrait mode in landscape mode, just with an added side bar (like e.g. Apple Mail). YouTube then chose to show the comments/recommendations in that sidebar.
