Crossed this one off the list. About 1/2 way through this months challenge. So far so good. Keep it moving folksšŸ‘šŸ»

The later. Sometimes taking hours, YET the exercise I did, on a bike trainer, will be credited in the Exercise ring. Seriously. I will do a 90 minute ride, get the credit as soon as I'm done, or shotly after, and the Move ring won't advance for, like I said, HOURS. Sometimes, not getting credit until the next day. Weird. Exercise credit, and no Move credit? Something is wrong...

And thanks for responding. Appreciated it...
what watch model is this and OS version?
never seen anything like this, I bike every day and my rings update maybe with a few seconds delay, but that's it. When I end my workout I get notifications like long move streak etc also within seconds, never seen it any different.
how long has this been going on?

I donā€™t get that at all. They happen together for me.

AW4, current OS on everything. It all used to update the rings pretty much immediately, and then something happened. Nothing updated for about a week, and I went into the Health app, and was able to get things to update again, but it's now late, usually. It freaks me out when the Move ring update happens quicker now. If I ride outside, it seems to update quicker, but I can't find any reason why or how that could happen. All of the apps I rely on are sources for the Health app. When I'm done riding, and the Exercise ring is updated, the apps I use are listed int he bottom of the Activity app. It's getting *something* from them, but why the Move ring isn't budging is odd. Often, if I go into the Activity app on my iPhone, it pops across and Move is updated, but also regularly, lately, it doesn't. So damned frustrating... I don't get it... What changed a year or so ago? It used to be *BING* *BING* *BING* Strava, Garmin Connect, Activity rings... Now? *BING* Strava *BING* Connect *BING* Exercise ring, and the wait starts...

so you are using the Strava or Garmin app on your watch to track your ride?
Here is what I would do:
Track a workout with the indoor or outdoor cycling app, the native watch workout app and see what behavior you're seeing.
I suspect that your 3rd party app is the cause, maybe not the app itself but possibly there is some corruption in your health data. For reference, I have 5 years of workout data with my watch and my heart data on the phone is ~ 2.1GB so there is a potential for corruption.
For my indoor cycling, I just use the indoor cycling app on the phone, works fine for me.
for my mountain biking, I've used Mapmyride for at least 7 or 8 years on my phone, when I started using my AW 5 years ago, I used the outdoor cycling app on the watch AND the mapmyride app on the phone, simultaneously, cause I wanted to keep the record in mapmyride updated.
What I do now is, on the phone, after the ride, I'm telling the app that I'm done. Because I have no cell connection where I stop, I drive home and then "save" my workout. after saving, when I open the fitness app on the phone, both workouts show up, without any noticeable delay ...
And. I assume you are aware that you can change which app writes to your health data and in which priority within your Health app? That's something to check the settings too to see if there is something not right.

Actually neither. The ride is tracked by either Zwift, or TrainerRoad. Outdoor rides are tracked by the Garmin bike computer.

I haven't ridden outdoors in three months, or more. I probably need to do an outdoor ride to see what happens. I swear they did update quickly, but it's been so long...

Third party apps? I can't tell where some of the data is coming from; I think. When the data was totally not showing up, I enabled multiple sources, as least I think I did. I haven't been able to find and definitive document that tells how to setup, and maintain the data sources that the Activity, and Health app use, and need.

Which 'cycling app'? Do you mean the 'indoor cycling' activity, oh, you are using the iPhone? I used to use the Indoor Riding(?) selection in the 'Workout' app on the watch. It doesn't read the telemetry from my bike. If it did, it might work better.

MapMyRide works great for outdoor rides...

So, the rest of your post, that I value for sure, I don't want it to seem I'm dismissing it at all, but in the pre-pandemic daze, I would arrive, turn everything on, make sure things are synced with my Garmin bike computer, start the ride on the Garmin, ride my ass off, or not, but afterwards 'close' the ride, and by the time I got home, I had attaboys for the ride.

Riding inside, as I said, the rides don't show up in the Activity app, but actually do show up in the two apps that the 'Heath' app is supposed to be using for data sources, which doesn't make sense. The data *should* be there, the sources are listed. *shrug*

I have wiped the iPhone, and wiped my Apple Watch too. I'm kinda stumped. Apple would have me do the same stuff I've done, so not very helpful. I guess I need to just get used to it. Mystified...

I feel it should be silver if itā€™s total, gold if itā€™s consecutive. But either way itā€™s a nice goal to achieve. Having only got an AW recently Iā€™m years away from this.
