thank you so much, im gonna use SKLauncher probably cuz multimc too new for SL (sklauncher needs java 8 min so runs on any os with java 8+)

EDIT: SKLauncher didnt work cuz it needs javaFX, so i used Legacy Laucher and that worked fine (Options -> Use System JRE)
how did you get legacy launcher to work, i tried to install java on mac os 10.6.8 but no launcher i tried works, i used many older versions of launcher and had no luck, i tried with olauncher, tlauncher, legacy launcher and beta craft but had no luck, all of them require java which i installed already (the build for mac os 10.6.8), as stated before i get endless errors...

brother, is there any way you can upload or link that launcher? Please =D I have searched EVERYWHERE for a working launcher >.< I'm so close! I got Java11 installed like you did! I am on OSX 10.6.8, not sure if I got Java 11 fully working but it shows as installed mostly I think except for a few errors and I followed your screenshots after trying for the millionth time. I cannot get Minecraft to work aghhhh! Stupid TLS protocol stuff >.<

me too =/ idk if that means it is broken but... Put "sudo" before the command at the end of the java 11 install, that is one thing I did that is correct I think. Still trying to find a launcher that will work. I don't think the launchers are even using java 11 because it shows up as java 6 in regular 1.7.2 launcher console. Hopefully @Jazzzny can do 1.8 soon because I bet that would work well with OSX 10.6.8!

EDIT: I have since also tried zulu 8 and I have it installed and can set it as HOME but it doesn't seem to fix the TLS issues because Java/MC launchers still use bundled Java 6 I think =(
I copied 1.7.2 files (assets, libraries, versions folders) over from my PC to iMac and now I am trying to find a way to launch that way hopefully but still no luck >.<
I just want 1.7.2 Minecraft on OSX 10.6.8 and I have been trying for literal days! I feel like it shouldn't be this hard =/

None of the launcher .jar files will work, they all just have java errors when trying to launch via terminal and such or they do launch (vanilla, 2014-2016 ATLauncher versions) but then immediately fail because they try to connect to a server or download files and Java 6/old TLS protocol causes it to fail. I don't know what I can do, short of copying over every file from a working OSX 10.6.8 Minecraft install or some sort of cr@cked/portable version which I don't know where you'd even find. Every time I try to launch the vanilla 1.7.2 client jar via .sh file it errors basically saying the java version isn't compatible. I am so lost >.<

EDIT 2: I FINALLY HAVE MINECRAFT WORKING (on java 6 too) YESSSSS. Thanks ChatGPT =D If anyone else needs it I am thinking about making a tutorial! I have it successfully launching offline via shell script and then I have an Automator shortcut on Desktop/in Applications folder set to launch that .sh script and it has the MC grass block icon even xD pretty much just like the normal Minecraft.app except no launcher and one specific version to load set by script. You just have to get a clean 1.7.2 game install from vanilla launcher (on PC or another iMac) and copy a few folders to specific locations on iMac from that new instance directory. It is honestly not that hard and I think I could make a pretty simple tutorial where it is minimal work. Just not sure if anyone else cares kek
