iPhone JB'd on 7.0.4 and happy.....what would I gain by going to 7.1.2?

Got it. Not really a power user and haven't had any "smoothness" issues on 7.0.4 that I've noticed....was more wondering about new features or options under 7.1.2 that I'm missing.
No new features... Just minor cosmetic changes. But it's definitely snappier compared to iOS 7.0.4.
JB'd on 7.0.4 and happy.....what would I gain by going to 7.1.2?

The updates are designed for everyday commoner users like you, NOT for power users. You're exactly the one who SHOULD update.
The pain of waiting for your device to restore, then update, then jailbreak.
Don't do it.
If you don't use much tweaks, then updating and setting things back to way they were shouldn't be too much trouble

I'm on 7.0.4 and staying here till iOS 8 is jb.
I have everything setup great now and the few small changes or improvements are not really that important to me.
Nobody who says "too many important calls bro" has any important calls coming in, let alone calls important enough to warrant not being able to be away for a 30 minute update.
(Check his twitter if you want further evidence he can go 30 minutes without calls, lol)

My biggest concern is like with 6.0 vs 6.1, some developers wrote their apps so that if you were to try to run it on 6.0, it'd pop up saying you have to update to have it work... version spoofers are unreliable at times. So for me it's more protecting against that aspect, along with the fact that it really does make a big difference (vs 7.0.4) for my iPad... scrolling and web pages are so much more smooth.
But yeah, it's a balance of want vs need.... and I don't think anyone needs it, but we should all be prepared for the fact that Apple may release an update in a week to kill it ... and iOS 8 is still months away, and having burned 2 exploits on 7.1.x, it's likely that the JB devs will wait until an 8.0.x release for their jailbreak, if they even have a back-pocket exploit, so we're looking at potentially early 2015 in a best-case scenario... so to me it's worth a little hassle doing an upgrade and pushing ahead the 5 revisions from 7.0.4 to 7.1.2 since it may be some time before I have the opportunity to upgrade without losing the jailbreak.

About the phone I might either wait for the jb iOS 8 or at least wait till all packages are updated and work fine with 7.1.2

But it's likely that Apple will drop 7.1.3 patching the JB and stop signing 7.1.2 before all the tweaks are compatible... that's my point... 90% are compatible today... We know this window doesn't last forever. So unless there's a tweak that someone simply can't live without (can't think of one since the critical\most downloaded ones are all updated), they should absolutely update while they can.
Easiest and most effective for this jailbreak is simply to plug in and accept the update. It'll retain almost everything except the tweaks.
- Take note of all the tweaks you installed (i just took screen shots of "installed")
(30 seconds)
- Plug in and accept the upgrade message (it'll back up as part of the process)
(5 minutes)
- When done, re-jailbreak All of your apps\music\video\photos\data will remain on the phone and untouched
(2 minutes)
- Open your screen shots of the tweaks you had, and install them all at once (use the queue function, you just queue them all then run the queue so you don't have to re-spring 50 times)
(10 minutes)
So total time you're looking at less than 20 minutes start to finish and your phone will look just like it did prior to the jailbreak. I know many say fresh install is the only way to go, but that's simply not necessary. The benefit of doing the upgrade then jailbreak is that when you reinstall your tweaks you don't have to re-add all your repos, and you don't have to re-set all your tweaks, because the settings for the tweaks transfer from version to version. It's literally a 20 minute TOPS project, and well worth it.
