Just can't settle with the Andriod - always keep going back to the iPhone?

I'm now yet again in the process of putting my Samsung Galaxy S3 up for sale on ebay - it's not the first time, but the 6th This is the 6th time ive had hold of the galaxy and went back to the iphone??

Not sure what it is for certain. The Galaxy is a good phone don't get me wrong and i've given it enough chances but I've always been drawn to go back to using the iphone. Unfortunately I dont think i'll ever be using an Andriod phone ago and im gutted really....

Has anybody experienced the same?

Think possible reasons why i keep going back are as follows:

1- I like the 'hold' of the iphone when im texting. The Galaxy just felt clunky and at times i was worried i would drop it when i was txting while walking along
2- I seem to be able to type faster with the iphone? I could make several mistakes when typing with the andriod which frustrated me. I downladed the swype software and must admit, if iphone did something similar that would be great.
3- When switching between screens with the Galaxy, i noticed sometimes there was lag, also when scrolling up and down a page or within an app such as facebook there was some lag
4- Ease of use for the iphone seemed much better
5- Im not bothered or interested in having to free up space on the phone, free up ram or anti-virus software. My phone isn't a computer
6 - Seems to take ages to charge up the battery.
7- Resources seemed to be taken up quite heavily.
8- I felt that the galaxy didnt seem to be as smooth as the iphone
9- I missed certain features on the iphone, such as Notes and Reminders. I know making notes is available for the Andriod but the app seemed a bit over the top. I wanted something simple and not to download from anywhere. Couldn't see how i could set up simple reminders on the Andriod. For the iphone, quick and easy.

It might look like i've slagged off the Andriod and my galaxy s3 phone but i haven't. I've given it a go so many times but just not sure if its my bag?

I actually bought 3 Android phones and sent them back, returning to Apple.

But finally over the last 6 weeks I bought one and it stuck, so I've actually sold my iPhone.

It's just personal preference, no biggie - it's only a phone

That's because there are things android does that you get used to, and there are things iOS does that you get used to. You reach a point where you want both to merge, which isn't possible, causing the constant jumping in between.

That's how I feel.

That's why I never get the iOS fanboys and android fanboys yapping about how their OS is miles ahead. If it really was, I would have no problem sticking to just iOS or android only.

I say its a good thing though. I just want a third player to attain the same status so we are not stuck with these two always. Shame MS is so slow and BB can't catch a break.

Most of what you have written is subjective and neither right or wrong - but ultimately still valid for you.

1) personal preference / subjective

2) as you already say there are better keyboards than samsungs stock s3 keyboard, but also you are probably correct in noticing that Apple's autocorrect is probably more accurate than those on your S3

3) Touchwiz can lag badly on older devices. The Note 3 is the first device where I have seen Samsung get rid of it completely, even my S4 had stutters.

4) again subjective and neither right or wrong

5) you shouldn't need to worry about antivirus software on your android phone either, its only if your venturing out into wilds of downloading stuff (something lets face it you can't do on the iPhone) that you may venture into trouble. But yes I can certainly empathise with 'memory management' issues on older android devices. Almost becoming a slave to it.

7) touchwiz my friend. it's a resource hog.

8) same reason as above. Touchwiz lags on older hardware - even older flagship hardware. It's the one area Samsung hasn't really improved - they have only thrown more ram and a faster processor at it to smooth things out. Samsung need to radically overhaul 'all' of touchwiz. If HTC can mod stock Android with Sense 5 and not effect space/memory resource requirements very much over Stock android - then it shows that Samsung really need to approach Touchwiz in this way. Sadly looking at early hands-on of the new magazine UX touchwiz on its newly announced tablets - engadget and the verge are both noticing the new UI to be a further drain on resources. It is in this area Samsung are failing the consumer.

I'd be the same way. I've owned only iPhones since smartphones came out. iPhone 3G then 4 and now a 5.

I've been tempted of late to jump to Android. Was seriously considering selling my 5 and going with an HTC One, but just could'nt shake the feeling that if I made the switch I'd regret it later.

To help the "itch" of the switch, I decided to just get a Nexus 7 (2013) tablet and dabble in Android that way...not my first Android tablet either, having owned a Nex7 2012 and Nex10.

Yeah I've had them all and they all have plusses and minuses that I know I could adapt to any of them. For me the only thing letting both BB & WP8 down is app selection. I'd be tempted to try another WP this year with the successor to the Lumia 1020, but fear the lack of apps I use regularly would irk.

My iPhone used to be my main phone and I would always go back to it; however, since getting my G2, I won't allow myself to go back to a small 4" screen. I am loving Kit Kat on my device far too much. If Apple comes out with a 4.7" iPhone, then I may switch back. But doubtful I'll ever go back.

I get all these with my Nexus 5, enjoy your iPhone though.

I'm with you on that. I'm all about trying new things and getting to know a phone, but at the end of the day I just need to get stuff done with it.

For me its the consistency. I find smoothness not to be an issue with ART on stock android and chrome beta has improved tons. Input lag is also pretty much gone.

But just trying an iPhone 5C the other day, something just screams consistency and uniformity. Especially how third party apps conform to the design. While KitKat is favoring cards interface, the blue holo can still be seen in the OS which breaks consistency, and majority of the apps just got into holo design, so its probably another couple of years to go cards and by then we will already see another redesign, who knows.

Try a moto x. Its definitely the most consistent android experience out at the moment. Its only 400 dollars no contract now as well.

I don't have an OS allegiance. If the phone does what I need I'll use it. Right now that's Android. But I have nothing against the others.

I won't argue that you prefer the iPhone to the SGS3. What I want to know is why have you tried to go back to the SGS3 so many times? What was it about the SGS3 or iPhone that made you give the SGS3 so many chances? I would think that after the second or third time, you wouldn't give it any more chances.

I currently have a Nexus 5, arguably the "smoothest" Android phone on the market. Even from day 1 there has been some lag in basic scrolling.

Haha typical response. No, there is nothing wrong with the device (this is actually my second one). Android just isn't as smooth as iOS.

In what areas? I am not trolling at all. I really want to know where you see the differences. I have the N5 and as of a week ago got the iPhone 5S. Each the best android and iOS can bring to the table. I am loving the iPhone 5S, and since my family has iPhones it works best right now, but honestly after iOS 7. Android feels just as smooth as iOS. I find little jumps in iOS just as I do in android. At times it seems the N5 to be a bit faster and smoother. I say they were equal.

Simple scrolling in Chrome. If I drag my finger down, iOS responds faster and starts scrolling quicker. There is a longer delay for my Nexus 5 to start scrolling. It is minimal, but it is there. This isn't just in Chrome, it happens in various other parts around the OS.

And BTW, I actually bought an iPhone 5s only to sell it and later get a Nexus 5. I'm not a hater or a fanboy, despite the stupid username that I thought I liked at the time. I just try and be unbias and look objectively. I love my Nexus 5. Its awesome. But lets not pretend Google can do no wrong.

The fact is, iOS respond to touch input quicker than my Nexus 5.

A longer delay between touch input and visuals is not subjective. Sorry.

I bought an iPhone 5s on launch day and sold it that same day. Never opened it. Sold it in preparation for the Nexus 5. But I have to agree, the Nexus 5 still has some lag in areas.
