Hey all, I just got back from my apple store and had a sample session with their wireless headphones and thought I would share. Just a quick background, I would consider myself an audiophile. I own a pair of $600 Sure In-ear studio monitors that I use for most of my music listening. But with my new watch purchase I figure some wireless bluetooth headphones would be in order for the gym.
I am going to try and help people decide if you are not able to try them for yourself.

- If you want a pretty accurate soundstage and hear all instruments the way the band intended get the Jaybirds.

-If you like a loud sound with lots of low end and bass but a sort of muffled high end go with the wireless beats.

I am not trying to knock either of the units, they just appeal to different crowds. For example, when I tested the Beatles, they sounded much better on the jaybirds, where as something like hip hop would probably be more enjoyable on the beats. Just wanted to share my experience testing them in store in case it helps people.

I'm not an audiophile and I would probably agree with the comments about the beats. I have a set of Yamaha HPH-PRO 500's for day to day use and they sound great IMO. Everything is very well balanced, from highs to mids to lows.

However I wanted a set of BT earphones for running so I bought the Powerbeats 2 Wireless. They are good headphones, but the highs and mids seem a bit weak and less refined. The lows however are great which is what I have always heard about regarding beats.

They seem to do the job well, but I don't think I would ever swap to beats from my Yamaha's.

Also, just incase anyone else has this issue. I had a problem on Sunday where I couldn't connect to my beats. It would turn on, the light would flash saying its ready to pair, but 2 iPhones and an iPad couldn't see it. It would also sometimes flicker like there was a dodgy battery connection. Even did the same when charging.

I packed them up and was ready to take my 2 week old headphones back to the Apple store. Had a quick look online first and found a way to reset them.

Plug them into a power source, then hold the on/off button and volume down button at the same time for 10 seconds, the LED will flicker for a bit then go back to solid red to indicate charging.

This reset them and they worked fine after. Actually, they were better! Before I would have occasionall drop outs when walking away to get a glass of water or something. Hasn't happened since I reset them. That might help someone out.

EDIT: Never mind! Went to use my beats just now and they won't connect to any device, then they decide they will connect but keep dropping out, then they just disconnect and won't connect again!

Only 2.5 weeks old, so back to the Apple Store they go tomorrow for a replacement set, as I'm not putting up with this on brand new earphones I've used a total of about 6 times while running that cost me £170!!

The only ones which don't fall out of my ear are the Bose Stayhear tips. I wish Bose comes out with a BT headset soon

Just got my powerbeats 2 wireless today and SO SO HAPPY with them . Over the ear and caught weight great sound. I took my jaybirds back lasted today and ordered beats . Jaybirds sounded good issues with them were never got a good fit so they fell out and those wings hurt my ears , another not they felt cheap . For $169(on sale for $124) I feel like it didn't feel like a premium item.

I ended up getting beat for $159 so I ran with that and so happy I did

Also I don't get any delay in video at all. I haven't updated firmware either fresh out the box .

You won't need to, when I checked mine which I bought just over 2 weeks ago they were up to date out the box. Went to the Apple Store with mine today and got a replacement set.

They said they would normally send them away for repair but as they are just over 2 weeks old they would just replace them or refund me if I wanted. Got another pair to give them a try and see how they last.

I honestly suspect it was the sweat that killed them as I only use them for running, but still....they should last more than 2 weeks (about 6 runs) and are sold as sweat and water resistant.

If this pair breaks again just as quickly I'll be asking for a refund as £170 is mental money for something that can't handle some sweat/moisture when it is advertised as doing so.

I agree with your comments about the Jaybirds. They have a great midrange, clean highs and excellent instrument separation. I don't feel like the music is colored by the phones but they certainly don't sound dull.

One knock. There is a very minor difference in volume between ears with the left bud sounding just a tad bit lower. Most won't notice but it's there. Otherwise a near perfect set of headphones for exercise and Bluetooth.

i don't understand everyone wanting bluetooth earbuds now for the watch when you can just pair them to your phone

I wanted Bluetooth anyways for my phone . But now that I have a watch it just pushed me over the edge to get em . Now when I go to the gym I don't have to carry my phone around . Loaded a playlist on my watch and listen to my music that way . And when I'm on the train I can connect to my phone easy listening and watching videos

Because now you can keep the phone in your pocket and scroll playlists, albums, artists, etc with your watch. Wires are a bitch when running so loading a short playlist on your watch makes Bluetooth headphones essential.

I read lots of comments about the Powerbeats 2 having a lot of bass. I just got some and get far less bass than my Bose QC20 or even Apple ear buds. I've tried all of the different tips. I hear more bass if I really jam in, but they don't stay in. Am I wearing them wrong?

Getting the Watch has gotten me interested in wireless headphones. Plus, I plan on doing a few runs each week without my phone and only my watch, so they will come in handy there too.
