TouCoul replaced my first iPad 2 CoulVue since I had the faulty joints. The new one is perfect (knocks wood). It's VERY secure, even on bump roads it doesn't budge. The engineering here is impressive, it's the perfect companion for a long road trip with kids.

incarbite headrest mount

here is the one i own for my ipad.

incarbiteusa.com

so far so good. it doesn't shake like those cheaper ones out there. its nicely built and works as a case.

Another CoulVue customer here who had problems. Our first one broke within a month or so. So we were sent a new one. That unit just broke last week as well. Joints still failed and seperated. They are issuing me a full refund and have stated that they fixed the problem. But they have said that before as well. I'm staying away from them from now on.

I will commend them for their service though, Our first replacement was shipped out and received within a few days, and after my email to them about the second unit they promised to send a refund out immediatley.

Gripdaddy is better!

Highly recommended!
My friend purchased a CoulVue. He was very pleased at first, but it broke after 2 weeks. After reading this blog, I decided I would try a different brand - Gripdaddy.
They just updated their previous models and have a great new product out.
This headrest mount hasn't failed me yet! VERY sturdy (doesn't shake or break), easy to install (no tools necessary), fits virtually any size tablet, and it can be used with or without the case.
However, the best feature, in my opinion, is that it's not made out of plastic - I know this product will last.

Go with the Gripdaddy..

I'm very happy with our new CoulVue. I think I probably got one of the new units.

The only thing I would prefer would be maybe a longer arm, and a release mechanism to pull the ipad2 out without unclipping it. The problem is you really can't leave the ipad in the vehicle overnight, or you risk someone breaking your window to get to it (in a city, at least). So you're clipping it in and out every time you use it, which I worry will wear on both the ipad and the coulvue.

What I'd really love to see is a quick-release mechanism where the arm meets the ipad mount, so I can throw it in the glovebox/ or take it in inside with you.

The other thing I worry about is only a 90 day warranty, which feels pretty short. When I was installing it, it felt like maybe one of the two bolts was stripping, as I felt I kept turning it and it wasn't getting tighter. My issue is that now I'm faced with possibly returning a non-defective (or very minorly) defective unit when I don't want to, only to make sure I get it in within the 90 day window, or risk it causing problems in the future. It seems to work fine now, but I'm worried about the bolt stripping further...

New iPad Headrest Mount

I came across this on Squidoo.com/ipad-in-a-car and liked it, then found it on Amazon. It is great as has a longer velcro strap so I think it will fit most headrests. I also like the fact that there are no hard pieces to come flying off in an accident.
Check it out here, it looks like it is really a new and improved product.
