A non action game. Something where you don't have to move a cursor around the screen quickly. Try a turn based strategy game or something similar maybe? And then buy a mouse :D

really? only strategy games? would it be impossible or difficult to play amnesia or killing floor. really leaning towards these games. how much would it cost for one of those mini mouses.

Well not impossible but its hard to be precise if you are required to aim using a trackpad. If you are playing a shooting game then sure you can turn and point in general direction but you will find it very difficult to aim precisely.

I havent played Amnesia but i think this should be ok because as far as i know its more slow paced horror game.

If you wanted a cheap mouse then you could have a look at Amazon and see what they have on offer. I use the VX Nano which i highly recommend but it is not the cheapest on the block

well, you seemed to set video pretty low. then you said 40-50fps? with my sony laptop F, for the same setting, I got 160fps. I usually set up video max out. I still get 55-69fps. what's wrong with macbook? is that what laptop can perform? that's pretty lame. that's why mac (probably excepting desktop) laptop is not for gaming. so people are pretty happy with that lower setting? LOL. you waste your money. better buy PC laptop which is way way better, and cheap. I guess that people are happy because they don't need to run bootcamp, right? yeah, keep dreaming.

Boot your Vaio into Mac OS X and run the benchmark, wait a minute... I know for a fact that the MacBook 13" in Windows would be getting 80-140~~FPS in Windows. Mac OS X is still not up to par with Window's performance when it comes to 3D.

Please stop talking.

hey there i'm new to this forum and macs in general and i was just wondering what you set your settings to in the game?
i just downloaded l4d (the first one) and i seem to be having troubles with the fps.. i'm getting like 15 fps and it's being really choppy.
i think i have the same macbook as you (macbook pro 13" 2.66 ghz..) and i was wondering if someone could help me out?

settings are in the video. You have the newest MBP? Anyway make sure anti-aliasing is off, you can set everything else to medium and should be fine. native res 1280x800 too, let me know. I haven't tried L4D1 though just L4D2... they did have troubles getting L4D ready for OSX although I don't believe that much of FPS hit. Maybe just your settings.

2010 Mac Mini

For whatever, it's worth my 2010 Mac Mini with 4GB of ram runs the game quite well with medium settings and about 1280x800 resolution. Running with the 10.6.4 graphics update.

No, it's not maxed out and not it's not a constant 60fps, but I've rarely run into a situation where it felt lacking in overall speed.

In fact, I think it runs a bit better than Half-Life 2 on the same system.

Interestingly, it looks like the new MBAs run the same games better, which leads me to believe that some people with 13" MBP or Mac Mini's would benefit from a SSD or a fast external hard drive.

Cheers.
