I Disagree with the word ‘Obtuse’ you’re correlating with this TrueDepth Camera technology.
I'm sticking with obtuse. Apple knows everything about your face with TrueDepth. The front camera can figure out the rest, from skin color, to position/shape of features like eyebrows. The fact that you still have to pick the shape of your face, chin, eyes, etc. seems like a large step backwards from what TrueDepth could do. Right now you're reconstructing your face like a police sketch artist, and then dressing it up. You should be able to roll your head like a Face ID enrollment, have it present a bald "you" model, and shortcut you to hairstyles, makeup, jewelry and hats.

The way it's done right now, the number of Memoji combinations are finite, and the results means you have a very generic set of caricatures. It's still clever, but stopping several stops short of "wow".

I Have to say, this thread is fascinating. It really does show you how interesting the technology has become now where you can create a generated version of your face for other have an idea of almost ‘kind of what you look like’. I’m curious to see where this technology leads in the future, to make it even more customizable for the user.
It works better than what I have on my S9+. That one is so creepy because it looks like it’s peeled my skin off and stuck it to some random girl’s head and is trying to pass as me. It’s as gross as it sounds. My Memoji is far less creepy. Unfortunately I made it blurry somehow.

Why can’t I post one? Don’t even have a way to open my pictures in Tapatalk.
