For sure: I have a MacBook Pro 14 with M1 Pro (10C/16G).

But I just downgraded to 12.1 because everything else didn't work. Apple is driving me nuts!?

Any news regarding the 12.3 RC?

I just don’t understand why Apple removed the scaled resolutions. This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to me.

As satcomer stated, Scaled resolution is still in the Display Preferences and always has been, they just "hide things in plain site" sometimes. Actually, now that I think about it, haven't you always had to hold down the Option key to get the actual scaled resolutions list to show up?

I don't think the problem is the options key, but that the resolution people want to use has been removed by Apple and doesn't show up anymore.

Same here. Using a DELL U4021QW 5k2k monitor with MacBook Pro M1 Max 16-inch, and no longer had the 3840x1620 after upgrading to macOS Monterey 12.2. Here are my current scaling options. Everything worked well until this update. I tried to upgrade to 12.2 beta and the issue was still not solved.

Hold down the 'option key' while click the Display button in pane! They're still there if you know what to do!
I know but the problem is that scaled 3840x1620 resolution is gone since Monterey 12.2

See above :)

Ok guys, Monterey 12.3 is out and who wants to test it? ?

How is the PWM / flickering on this monitor when the brightness is not set to 100%?

Edit: I switched the monitor settings DisplayPort Version to 1.4 and now the screen works perfectly on both MBPs!
I'm happy again.
I also removed SwitchResX from the 2021 MBP, and the monitor still works.

I upgraded a 2021 M1max MBP and a 2018 i9 MBP to macOS 12.3. It's bad.
SwitchResX is installed on both.
The 2018 MBP just doesn't detect the external monitor anymore. I tried disabling graphics switching, no change.
The 2021 MBP works at 3440x1440, but as soon as I try anything higher with SwitchResX it starts flickering on-for-a-sec to off-for-10-secs.
I'm not happy.

At which scaling? Or do you talk a out SwitchResX that works again?

Thanks!

2021 MBP, System Information says (without SwitchResX, monitor set to DP 1.4)
LG HDR 5K:
Resolution: 6720 x 2836
UI Looks like: 3360 x 1418 @ 60.00Hz
2018 MBP, SystemInformation says (with SwitchResX, monitor set to DP 1.4 - I haven't tried without SwitchResX)
LG HDR 5K:
Resolution: 6720 x 2834
UI Looks like: 3360 x 1417 @ 60.00Hz

If I can believe my browser my settings translate to a resolution of 3414x1440 in Windows, which would be very close to that. I guess I could get used to it.
Thanks for your feedback!

Does anybody know if it's possible to run two of these monitors from one Thunderbolt 4 output (Mac Studio)?

I’m wondering that nobody else reported this bug in Monterey 12.2. My friends MacBook Pro M1 Max has the same problem so it’s definitely a bug in 12.2

Where are the 34WK95U owners? ?

Hi, I also own this monitor, yesterday I updated macOS to 12.3.1 and the screen resolution I used to use on this monitor also disappeared. Looking for an answer to this question I found this forum and this thread, any news or other information on this?

Install SwitchResX if you want to use 3840x1620 resolution. That's the only option because they removed it since macOS 12.2

The other option is to make a downgrade to macOS 12.1

When using SwitchResX there is no desired result because the image on the monitor looks fuzzy and blurry, unfortunately.

As for lowering the version, is it realistic to do this if there is no backup?

Just asking all here... as new Macbook Pro is coming Tuesday and i am interested in this LG 5120x2160 desktop monitor... to get rid of my annoying 2 monitor setup.

I read everything - so now it is only possible to use 3360x1418 - 3840x1620 disappeared?

PS:

How is sharpness of these scaled resolutions comparing to native 5120x2160 or "half" 2560x1080 (if possible)?

That's right, there is currently no option in macOS 12.3.1 to select a 3840x1620 resolution for this monitor. Only the following options can be selected from the resolution list:

As you might have guessed by now, using this monitor with these resolution options is not a cool idea. Using the original resolution 5120x2160 is uncomfortable because the interface is incredibly small, the proposed option 3360x1417 has a mirror problem, with it the system interface is already quite large, which causes discomfort.

And the golden mean 3840x1620 that, in my opinion, was ideal for this monitor, for some reason removed.

You can also try BetterDummy with a custom aspect ratio of 3840x1620 and set that dummy's "Mirroring Target" to the monitor.

BetterDummy can be downloaded here:

I appear to have a LOT more options than anyone else with my LG34WK95U hooked up via Thunderbolt to a Mac Studio. And I'm currently using 3840x1620 as my resolution using RDM.app.

I use this resolution for general reading, watching videos and general "office work." But when I'm doing my job (graphic design), I switch to 5120x2160 for the crisper text and expanded screen real estate.

The thread you want is:

The instructions that have given most people success are on Page 25. Note that at least a few of us did *not* have to disable SIP to get it to work.

3840x1620 is working here natively (no extra software installed.) Macbook Pro 16 (2021) with M1 Pro, connected to LG 34WK95U via Thunderbolt. As others have mentioned, if the list with different resolutions are not showing, you have to option click the "Scaled" button. See pictures.

What the heck??? I have an M1 MacBook Air and have never gotten that resolution option even when option clicking Scaled and Show all resolutions. I have to run it at native res and squint to read anything because the only other option makes it look like a Playskool toy.

May I ask what macOS you’re running? Because as far as I know all those scaled options disappeared with Monterey 12.2. I’m dying to know this!

Monterey 12.4
Argh. I ran 12.4 and it didn’t help. I tried the 12.5 beta to see if it fixed anything (as well as Thunderbolt I/O bugs) and still don’t have your option.

I’m going to report this to the developer of SwitchResX. Thanks!
