Hello. Does anyone have image retention / burn in on this panel?

I've had mine for a couple months and no problems yet. I use it around 8 hours a day, sometimes more, as I'm a professional designer and photo retoucher. I change the desktop background a couple times a day and have it set to dynamic. I have my screensaver set to turn on after 2 minutes with monitor sleep at 7 minutes.

Although, letting the monitor sleep was a nightmare up until the latest 12.5 macOS beta. I'd have to physically unplug and plug in the monitor for it to come back on.

Has anyone tried out the new macOS Ventura Developer Beta to see if it beings back any scaled resolutions?

What the heck??? I have an M1 MacBook Air and have never gotten that resolution option even when option clicking Scaled and Show all resolutions. I have to run it at native res and squint to read anything because the only other option makes it look like a Playskool toy.

May I ask what macOS you’re running? Because as far as I know all those scaled options disappeared with Monterey 12.2. I’m dying to know this!

Argh. Thanks for letting me know. I have a feeling it's not a true limitation of the M1 but an arbitrary limit set by Apple to differentiate between the Air and Pro models. Infuriating.

Is this limitation for HIDPI mode only? Can an M1 normally drive a 3440 X 1440 ultrawide in its native resolution?

It drives up to a 6K screen. It's the scaling that's limited.

Thanks. Wonder if the M2 will have the same limitation. Debating going with a normal 3440 x 1440 ultra wide versus getting this LG 34 5k2k monitor.

Got my M2 Air yesterday (8-Core CPU, 10-Core GPU, 24GB RAM, 1TB SSD) but unfortunately no 3840x1620 hidpi screen resolution so it's the same sh*it as on M1. You can only select between 3008x1269 and 5120x2160 (of course and lower resolutions but nobody wants that).

So I will send the M2 Air back and keep my M1 Pro 14inch.

I know I've said it in this thread (or maybe it was another one about this Display), but I use RDM to show all available resolutions, and I am currently using 3840x1620 HiDPI. (The lightning bolts in the screenshot represent the HiDPI resolutions). It also shows up in the System Settings scaled resolution box.

Mac Studio w/M1 Max, 10 core, 64 GB RAM
LG 34WK95U connected via Thunderbolt USB-C connector (this is important)

Relevant display settings:
Super Resolution+: High
Response Time: Fast
Display Port Version: 1.4 (I believe this one is also important)
Local Dimming: On

no one (to my knowledge) with a Pro or Max has any issue getting this resolution to work. Issue is for "regular" M1/M2 chips.

Thank you for sharing your display settings. May I ask you which setting you use for the "Uniformity" option in display settings?

I have also tried super resolution+ but I turned it off. The picture looks much smoother when turned off.

I have Uniformity turned off. I don't like any setting that adjusts the brightness automatically. I like it full brightness all the time.

For those that have the LG 34” 5k2k do you find it is significantly better than a quality 34” 1440p display? Particularly if you are using it in a scaled mode versus full resolution?

I have Ventura installed on an Intel 16" MBPro for testing purposes with all my software. I'm also interested to know if there are any resolution issues with the display before I install it on the Mac Studio (which the display is currently connected to).

Ventura is working fine on my M1Max MBP. 3840x1620, 5120x2160, 3360x1418, 2560x1080 and 2048x864 are available natively in Displays in System Settings.

Generally not, but it happened to me twice: the monitor started flickering on a third of the screen surface, and the image started to show retention. The flickering caused headaches, I had to stop working.
The next day it was working fine. No flickers no retention.
The next time this happened, I turned the monitor off for a while, and it was working fine again when I turned it back on.
I thought maybe the heat? Anyway, that convinced me to buy the warranty extension.

Yep. I took a chance I bought out this guy. I've had it for 6 months or so and it works well. My window positions aren't always saved but that happens when connected directly to my M1 14", too.

I recommended it to another friend and he's had no issues either for a few months as well.

FWIW this has not been my experience going straight from my M1 Max MBP to my 40" LG (via TB4). Windows always stay where they're supposed to, and on multiple workspaces as well.
