[/COLOR]Did I just see him double tap the screen to put the device to sleep?

http://www.androidcentral.com/lg-g2-coming-three-uk

Why isn't this on every phone?! It seems such an obvious solution for larger screen devices.

Nice to see all those features that would have previously required a custom rom or root access get mainstreamed. Kudos to LG.

Those with a rooted Galaxy Nexus or Nexus 4 have been able to do the double tap to wake/sleep thingy for quite a while now. Check out the PGM app for the GNex (Touch Control app for the Nexus 4)

And being able to customize the number /shape/size/color of soft buttons has also been a staple of most custom roms for a while now.

Great phone, but I still prefer Nexus devices. I will be patiently awaiting the Nexus 5, and this just makes me even more excited.

Couple of things:
-I absolutely love the nearly bezel free design and don't think the tech sites are giving them enough credit for it
-Having used a note 2 since December I'd say 5.2" is just about the perfect display size
-I don't care for the LG skin but would buy this phone if it had a Google play edition. Since there's no indication there will be a GPE edition I prefer to wait for note 3,htc one max or nexus 5.
-I don't have any idea why most tech sites seem to be comparing this beast to the mid range Moto X
-The Nexus 5 will be a massive hit if they base it on this phone, subsidise it and get the launch right

Those won't be the deciding factors. There are two major factors that go into a phone being a massive hit.

1. Advertising
2. Carrier availability

Google does neither with the Nexus devices. They don't widely advertise it and they don't make it available in carrier stores or websites, with few exceptions.

Is a long press of the home button that inconvenient?

No but pressing a button is easier and faster and I'm just used to it :p

----------

You can add a extra button or move the buttons around you can have three buttons or four. The screen is 10x whiter then the S4. Depending on price I'm sold.

Oh I didn't know you could do that. Thanks for sharing.

----------

Wut! How did I miss this tidbit of news? Was it widely reported?

That's interesting! Any rumors on who it would be?

Honestly I'm not sure. I haven't read anything else about it.

Four full-res photos at http://blog.gsmarena.com/lg-g2-camera-samples-arrive-show-what-its-13mp-ois-shooter-is-capable-of/

- the lens seems to be very good - good sharpness along the entire area and little chromatic aberration
- of course, on the pixel level, even non-shadows are noisy even at base ISO. At screen sizes (zoomed out) noise isn't annoying in ISO 100 shots.
- no slow shutter photos so it's still impossible to assess the efficiency of the OIS - the only one using a somewhat longer shutter ( http://cdn.gsmarena.com/pics//13/08/lg-g2-camera-samples/camera/thumb/gsmarena_001.jpg ) is 1/24s, while using ISO300. This may also mean the camera doesn't really want to use "dangerous" shutter speeds (unlike most other phones - most of other phones go down to 1/15s to keep ISO as low as possible); instead, they start bumping up ISO early.

If it produces excellent footage in the 1080p60 mode, I'll surely get this. Particularly if it also records audio in stereo.

I despise losing space screen space to navigation bars. I'm so glad the GS4 still incorporates a hardware button and capacitive buttons. It's a real 5" screen, not 5" minus screen space for software buttons.

well 5.2" with on screen buttons is a true 5" screen. That is probably why they made it 5.2"
