Its probably been removed. The only phones I have seen with ART on kit kat are the nexus phones, the moto x, moto g, and anything running a 4.4 aosp rom.

Yeah, Probably. Was holding on to some expectation when I saw screenshot of the Korean model having the option to do so. Oh well...

Verizon has this reputation of pushing out updates quite late. Clearly remembered the saga about the Galaxy Nexus last time.

That reputation is well deserved, but they have been doing better lately, especially with the Moto X. I'm hoping I won't have to wait too long, but if I do I'm happy with the phone as is.

It's dropped in price massively in the UK, it seems. Only a touch more than a new Nexus 5 basically.

I recently switched to T-Mobile so they could pay my ETF. I decided to try the G2. The only problem I'm having is playing music in my car.

LG G2 my experience

Having been on the iPhone for around 2-3 years from the 4s and now the 5, I was getting a bit bored and being the impulsive guy that I am, decided that I would try Android again. After reading through loads of reviews and watching various video reviews, I decided to get an LG G2. It was described as one of the most powerful phones and also one of the best Android phones around. I played with several in the phone shop and finally bit the bullet and bought it. Prior to moving across to iPhone I owned a HTC HD2 which I modded to death and although I bought it as a windows phone it spent its life as an Android phone so I had an idea of what Android was like 3 odd years ago albeit on a modded device.

After a week with the LG G2 a snapshot of my impressions are as follows:

Positives:

Lovely screen. The screen is the stand out feature, amazing to look at and when compared to my iPhone 5 it was almost embarrassing how much better it was.

Camera
The camera under ideal conditions or if you have time to wait for it to focus was quite impressive and again showed up my iPhone 5.

Build: Its plastic and big but it felt decent in the hand.

Features
The phone could pretty much do anything, I mean it could change my tv channels, zoom in on videos, take pictures before you took a picture etc.

Android
Android is a decent platform, lots of things to try and customize to any specific tastes.

Negatives

Audio:
Loudspeaker is tinny and sounded stupid next to my iPhone 5 running the same apps or playing the same music. Also, the audio through the headphones cannot match the iPhone 5.

Camera:
In low light or non perfect conditions the camera is so slow. I mean really slow, like from pressing the camera icon to the phone focusing was around 8 seconds. On my iPhone 5 it's about 3 seconds. Then to take the picture was another 1-2 seconds whereas on my iPhone 5 it's almost instant. Unless you’re in burst mode you cannot fire off pictures like the iPhone. Not a good camera for quick opportune snaps.

Build
Creak creak creak. You forget how solid the iPhone is and assume all other manufacturers push out the same quality. They don’t. This phone creaked like I don’t know what. In a case you don’t notice it but without it’s like handling a bag of crisps or something.

Android
I’m not any sort of fanboy but anyone who says that Android apps are as good as the apple variants cannot have spent any time with them. I tried near enough every equivalent app between my iPhone and the LG G2 and near enough all of them functioned better on ios. I play words with friends a lot and it is embarrassing on Android. I now remember how bad it was on Android 3 years ago and just assumed it would’ve improved, it hasn’t.
Basic things on ios were so much better. Phone app, messaging, calendar, contacts, gallery, music were instant to open. On the LG G2 there was always a little delay, very small but noticeable when compared to ios.

I installed Nova Launcher and alternative dialers etc but the experience didn’t differ that much from stock. What annoyed me even more was the LG G2 is at least a year younger than the iPhone 5 yet most if not all apps sprang open at the same time as the iPhone, which on paper is half the specs. The iPhone beat it on some apps. Multitasking was quicker on the iPhone with recent apps opening quicker.

I can only put this down to how refined ios is and how far Android still needs to come in my opinion.

There is so much more I could go into with regards to the LG G2/Android but this post is too long as it is.

I’ve decided to send back the G2 and keep my iPhone 5, as there were too many compromises.

I post this as an aid for anyone else who is as particular as me and may want a real life review/comparison as the reviews like Stuff.tv described this phone as the best handset of 2013. That is way too subjective.

Sorry about the long post.

I've been using my G2 for over a week now. I'm seriously impressed with it. It is now my daily driver, coming from iPhone 5s. Battery life is awesome. I'm not that heavy a user. My last charge went for 3 days, with ~5hrs screen on time, 14% remaining on the battery. Love the smooth 1080/60fps videos, though only while it's daylight. I find the LG add ons very useful.

Take a look at the picture comparison here. It is Anandtech's review of the Galaxy S5. To me the G2 has the best picture quality out of them all, especially the low light shots. There was zero mention of the G2 in this GS5 review and there was never a full review published on the G2 by Anand, which is really a shame because it is a great phone.

Battery life was really good with the G2 no doubt about that. I found that the camera produced some excellent pictures as well. My complaint with the camera was that it was way too slow in low light. At times it also over processing pictures so pictures of my children indoors sometimes had this weird masking affect due to the cameras aggressive processing.

I did find someone on XDA who'd modded the camera and among other things had sped up the focus etc.

The G2 had some great features and maybe if I didn't still have my iPhone5 for direct comparison and wasn't an audio head with a large music collection I may have stuck with it.

There is life after the Iphone 5S

Totally happy with my G2 after having the Iphone 5S. Just took it off the wireless charging platform( Verizon ). The screen is beautiful. Bluetooth works in my car every time. Battery life is super. There is really nothing I don't like about this phone. Got it on the Edge program with Verizon and if the G3 is superior to the G2, I will get the G3.

Just saw this deal from my BlinkFeed -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LG-G2-Latest-Model-32GB-Unlocked-Smartphone-FRB/380998666551?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item58b54a4937

$229 for a refurbished one-year old flagship!

Either a truly great deal or LG has truly bad resell value or both. I think it is a fantastic deal. If people can't get Xiaomi or OnePlus One avail in their country, then this is a bargain. This is still cheaper than Nexus 5 and Moto X (2013) and only slightly higher than Moto G (1st/2nd gens).
