Close but no cigar. It's a lot taller, almost two mm wider and has the SD810 chip which in my experience is an overheating POS. Physical dimensions vs screen size is quite important for me and that's why I can't be bothered with a large majority of phones out there. Just too much bezel. Samsung seems to be one of the only ones making phones that have mostly screen taking surface space. I just don't like Touchwiz much and on larger phones find front bottom fingerprint readers rather uncomfortable.
The 810 in the 6P thankfully has no overheating issues at all. It has a different version (V.2) of 810 than earlier versions. It gets no warmer than the Exynos under load in the S6, S6 Edge, Note 5 etc ...

The SD808 on the other hand is ridiculous for running warm even when not under load ...

The Z5 Compact I had briefly also had the V2 and so does the Oneplus Two and both have owners reporting heat issues. No matter what I did on the Z5C I could feel the heat thru the display. No such issues on my Oneplus One (SD801).

One Plus 2 uses very early revision of the 810. Surprised the Z5 compact had issues, i have a Z5 here and have not had any heating issues at all.

I want to like the G5, and I actually like the design, the top front panel is very sleek and cool looking. But WTF only a 2,800mAh battery in this thing, and it's pretty thick and beefy too for having such a small battery. For me to have had any interest in this phone, I'd like it to have at least a 3,200mAh battery, and 5.5" screen, and keeping it thin like the the Note 5

I am no Samsung fanboy at all, but damn that S7 Edge is a hardware beast, with a massive 3,600mAh and a 5.5" screen, and pretty thin, and being overall smaller than the G5, is a no brainier which to get IMO.

If the battery is removable/replaceable, why is the capacity such an issue?

It does kind of upset me, to see the S7 Edge being 7.7mm thin with a massive 3,600mAh battery, and the G5 being the exact same thickness, with only a 2,800mAh battery. And the S7 Edge weighs less too, and is the same overall phone size, but with a larger screen.

Those points above, make me not want the G5 as much now. And I'm not a removable battery guy, I'd rather just have the largest battery, without worrying about swapping. And wireless quick charge is a nice feature too, just plop the phone down on the charger, and when in a hurry or a call comes in, just grab it and go, no worrying about unplugging a cable.

for me personally...I never got the replaceable battery as a bonus. I'm sure it is a great for some. But I would rather reward better battery tech and capacity than a replaceable battery. I mean what a pita to have to carry an extra battery and restart your phone to replace it. Then make sure the extra is charged as well.

This. And to add on to that ..... there are so many cases that carry extra battery power, with a minimal bump in overall size/thickness. I would rather just snap one of those on versus carrying a battery.

How is LG handling their demand? Pre-order system? I thought Samsung would have theirs like Apple, but nope, it was just redirecting towards carrier sites or Best Buy lol.

Issue I'm having is to get the v10 or G5....

Practicality: V10

Flashy: G5

All fair points. And I'll preface that my next statement isn't directed specifically at any of you three but rather I'm throwing it out for general conversation...

I just find it slightly amusing that a year ago so many Samsung fans were all up in arms about the omission of the user replaceable battery in the Galaxy/Note line yet this year when comparing the two latest Android flagships, the one with the user replaceable battery--and a pretty cool method of swapping them at that--is the second class citizen.

And for what it's worth, I completely agree--never was a fan of user replaceable batteries as their inclusion always compromises device rigidity and design.

I haven't had a chance to read much about the G5 yet, just a few brief articles. But is it possible that LG will have an oversized battery as one of its accessories? I believe they are building a 10k mAh battery into the camera. Maybe they will have a separate battery only accessory.

Edit: I'm sorry. I just read that the camera module brings the capacity up to 4K, not 10k. I apologize for the error.

Perhaps LG or someone else will release a battery case that will bring the phone up to 10K.

I am pretty sure they will have a larger battery pack that will fit into the module at some point. It makes sense.

Here is the thing: As Android posters, we consider how valuable SD slots and removable batteries are. Yet the average end user doesn't really care about those, so it goes to show that the LG mods will go over folks' heads. The whole "I won't buy a S6 because of no removable battery and no SD slot" had less bearing on those "lack of features" vs the overall quality of the product. I shouldn't see why both companies can be successful though.

Boy the LG G5 is getting no love after the S7 Edge announcement. All the tech forums and XDA aren't even talking about the G5 now, and everyone is pre-ordering the S7 Edge already. Doesn't help that LG won't even have the pre-orders open until March 18th, a week after the S7 will already be selling in stores. And then the G5 won't be in stores until April sometime.

Well that tiny 2,800mAh scared me off, as did that small 5.3" screen. Wish the G5 followed the recent rumors of a 5.6" screen in a very small body, and a 3,300mAh battery, oh well.

Desperate measures indeed....

That modular design is going no where.....
They need the removable battery because the battery is so much smaller on the G5
The S7 camera will blow the G5 away......More MP doesn't mean better results
Display size?????? WTF?

Funny how people didn't want a big screen, then try a big screen phone out and refuse to go back.

Guess girls were right about "size does matter".

Only way I'd get a Samsung phone is if they got rid of Touch Wiz.

The G5 is DOA. Small battery. Small screen. Very thick phone for all of that.

And that modular stuff will cost $$, who's truly willing to spend that much extra money on these kits ? And then these extra kits don't work on any other smartphones, only the G5, and will they even work on the G6 next year ? I wouldn't want to invest that money in these modular parts, and then next year they no good on newer phones.

Haha I love the squabbling between LG and Samsung. They really do like to poke each other in the eye at any opportunity.

Considering they're two of South Korea's largest companies some of these playground fights are rediculous.

As for the G5, I guess it won best at MWCfor the modular concept but, I agree, it's unlikely to take off unless it becomes some kind of standard on many other Androids. That's not going to happen.

Smaller screen, device is heavier than the previous two, and the screen to body ratio is even less.

If Howie said deal or no deal to me, forget it! :)
