I'll be completely honest, this phone is a bit of a disappointment for me. Here's why:

-Smaller screen. I can see why they did it, but it's not welcomed by me.
-No AMOLED. Again, it's personal preference, but with the always-on display (which I still think is gimmicky), seriously?
-A separate camera just for wide-angle shots. What's the point? Why not have one camera which does everything? All that the extra camera does is make the phone look ugly.
-The 8MP camera would be a PERFECT opportunity for an amazing low-light camera. But they didn't mention it at all, so I assume it's not happening.
-The battery connections are in the bottom module. Meaning you have to restart your phone every time you replace the bottom bit.
-And finally, LG thought they were so clever, so to be 'less confusing', they decided to remove the app drawer. WTF!? If anything it would make it a hell of a lot more confusing. I know many people who don't use the main home screen at all. It's what's keeping Android easy to use. Good luck getting any extra users from that LG.

That isn't to say that it's a bad phone, but it definitely isn't perfect. Let's see if HTC do it right.

Really not sure about the design, it looks very odd.

I'm glad they've made the screen smaller but they've also made the device taller. This seems oxymoronic.
agreed....this might be one of those phones that we really can't get a feel for it design wise until you see it in person.

Agreed! great points. Hate the no app drawer. Should gone with capacitive buttons around the LG logo on the bottom to free up screen space.

I wouldn't have expect it considering that they haven't done it before, but yes, it would have been nice. I dislike software buttons.

The funny thing is off all the things they needed to do to get the LG UX up to date, taking out the app drawer was not it ...

I think LG have just nubbled themselves with the G5. It aschews the language design wise that others liked about the G range, thereby alienating their existing users, whilst at the same time messing around with Android fundementals and making all the bits we want in our devices as standard 'optional modules' - making it unattractive investment for new users.

I dont want to pay extra to listen to better quality audio, I want that built in etc .....

It was a nice experiment, but one they should have reserved or branded as a different device. As a 'G'5 - it's a misstep imho.

It's a pretty solid phone. The removable module slot is a clever idea, but I doubt it will be supported as much as if Samsung did something similar.

I have to hand it to LG. They're being bold. I like the module concepts, but if they're expensive or burdensome, then folks will look the other way. App drawers not existing surprised me. I am surprised they dropped down to a 5.3" screen. Specs are what you think would be there. A 3000 mAh battery would've been nicer tbh. The phone looks really nice nevertheless! Decent contender against Samsung.

Was hoping for some good competition from LG to keep Samsung on their toes but, in a nutshell, design is bland if not ugly like the Nexus 5x and nothing stands out feature wise. It's only an upgrade coming from iPhone 6S Plus but probably no competition for S7.

Okay, after seeing the software UI, I cannot lie, it is still damn hideous. What's the point of putting another launcher when you cannot get an app drawer? What was LG thinking? "Let's make a dumbed down phone to attract iOS users that crave simplicity?" They made it a hodgepodge of Samsung, iPhone, LG own stuff, etc. Not looking to buy that, especially when there is no skinless model.

LG had the right idea with dual camera but wrong implementation. Considering that people want detail and low light they should use a high megapixel sensor for detail in well lit environment and high pixel size sensor for low light.

Ouch, that case is disgusting and huge lol.

Lol. I had one when i had my 1020. It did the job and was needed for increased battery life, it wasnt too bulky in practice, but yeah - ideally your phone would have enough battery life that you wouldnt need a booster case.

I don't mind the look, but I still think that people should be able to theme the software, like on TouchWiz and Sense.

I remember suggesting that a while ago. It would have been a very neat idea. We still have 16 and 8MP cameras, so it could be that it's a possibility, but LG ruined it by giving the cameras different fields of view. Just curious though, which one's which? Is the 8MP one the wide-angle one?
[doublepost=1456075368][/doublepost]Top bezel looks kinda huge. This isn't normal for LG.

Have to agree with most points here...not really liking most of what I've seen. It's a pretty ugly device and when put up against its chief competitor, he S7, it falls short in most areas.

The modular design is interesting but I doubt the components are cheap and unless LG is going to adopt this phone design for the next few years, you'll get to use them with one phone. I think the dual camera setup also has merit but only real world use will tell if it performs up to expectations.

One thing to consider regarding the app drawer--a recent podcast I listened to brought up how the Nexbit Robin also does not have an app drawer but using a third party launcher that has one will give you the option. They said when they added the Google Now Launcher to the Robin, the Now's Launcher was then available for use. By the looks of LG's skin, I think adding a 3rd party launcher is a good idea anyways. ;)
