I think it's the best-looking LG phone from the 5 flagships so far.

I'm not feeling it tbh. It may look better in person, but from the leaks - design wise it's leaving me cold.

My own list based on leaks based some on aesthetics would be

1. S7 Edge
2. S7
3. M10
4. LG G5

Same, but M10 and G5 switched.

These flagships along with the iPhone 7 and Note 6 later in the year will make for the most interesting comparisons in a long time.

The G3 for me definitely takes the win for the best looking G phone in my opinion. I'm looking forward to the better build of the G5 though.
I remember when the G2 came out and thought how awesome it was for it to have a very good screen-to-body ratio. It still stacks up today, except for the plastic body. That phone was ahead of its time, and even ahead of the flagships from that year and basically on-par with the ones from the next.

The optimus g pro is mine, shame they abandoned this design so quickly.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
It's more comfortable to hold, but more slippery.

Looks kinda cool imo. Must be why the fingerprint sensor is on the back.

The curves make it easier to hold supposedly.

Hmm will be interesting to see if it is easier to hold, the iPhone is curved but is so thin and slippy most people put a case on it anyway.
It's an interesting design, wonder how big it is?

People call iPhone buyers sheep but jesus look at all the Android flagships on offer. Most aren't just ugly, they are pig fugly. How are iphone users suppose to jump ship? The S6 Edge and Sony Z series are still the only android phones with any decent aesthetics. It must be an android thing to see the same folks on here liking these ugly android phones year after year.....

LG G5 and S7 are appallingly bad that it is hard to understand any praise for how it looks.

Huawei Mate 8 looks decent but it's a huawei. Nexus 6p is ok but a Nexus is a budget flagship. In the android world it is really only the flagship Samsung or flagship Sony that is really usually only worth considering. Otherwise the iPhone.

Honestly, there are many nice phones. Note 5, S6, S6 Edge and plus, iPhone 6, LG V10, the Sony one,
Huawei makes some great phones too.

Well that's where something called opinion comes in. Some people like the look of the G5, as seen in this thread, many people like the look of the S7/S6, and a lot of people just don't care how their phone looks.
And the how does the Nexus 6P being a budget flagship make it bad in any way? In fact, it's widely considered the best Android phone at the moment, and many reviewers use it as their main phone.
You might say that most Android phones are ugly, but many others think differently.

Id like to know how the 6P is a budget phone generally given it has same specs as the flagships and is priced equivalently here at €649 at launch ...

Well I didn't say that it was a budget phone, but good point. The international pricing of the newest Nexus hones is ridiculous. Here in the UK it's £479, which is equivalent to $690, making it 38% more expensive here. What annoys me further is that the Nexus 6, which was worth $649 in the states, was worth the same £479 here. I would have thought that Google would have carried it on with the next Nexus lineup, but nooo!
If it was worth £360-400, who knows, I probably would have bought it.
[doublepost=1456054482][/doublepost]Will the G5 launch be broadcast through the website?

Nexus = budget good/high spec android from Google. The brand is basically a google subsidised phone. Always has been and always will be. 6p upped the standards significantly but it is still a Nexus (and one with a Huawei logo on it). Most iphone owners wouldn't even entertain such a change even if it came witn 10gb ram.

And I said budget flagship, not budget phone.

Yes looks are subjective which is why sales confirm wider general opinion. In the high end/flagship space Android sell hardly any phones relatively. I see the same hardcore android folks here lapping up these on the whole unattractive designs but as a neutral I can even see how the big picture will end.

I will even say that the nextbit robin phone is better looking than these despite looking so much like a prototype device.

.

Whilst they may be subsidising it in USA, they are not in other parts of the world. 650 Euro / $700 here is not subsidised in any way. Whilst its still cheaper than the iphone 6s by €100 - its still on the high end side of Android here, matched with the S6 price wise.

I was looking forward to this phone but there's so many things I don't like. Slightly smaller screen than my Oneplus One at only slightly smaller dimensions, the back looks really ugly, the fingerprint button looks a bit small and I was hoping for an AMOLED screen. The protruding camera and button on the back are not a plus either.

If Oneplus 3 manages to have a fingerprint reader/power button on the back with the SD820 then I might spring for that.

Ars Techica has hands on witht he G5
USB Type C confirmed for the G5
The full spec list is a 5.3-inch, 2560×1440 LCD, a Snapdragon 820, 4GB of RAM, dual rear 16MP and 8MP cameras, an 8MP front camera, a 2800mAh battery, and 32GB of storage. All the extras you could want are here too: a microSD slot, an IR blaster, a fingerprint reader, NFC, and a USB Type C port. The only things you could really complain about are the lack of wireless charging (a no-go for metal phones) and LG's Android skin.

Oh god they still have that hideous looking skin from the look of the icons.
It's interesting that they went with a little smaller screen. Maybe a larger phone is in the works? The LG skin is kinda cartoonish tbh.....
I am interested to see what kind of modules they release too.

I thought I'd like the phone, but the front looks too cluttered for some reason. I think it's the bottom bezel being a different color from the top, and thicker black border on the bottom compared to the sides. That whole design makes it look cluterred to me. Overall, I hate to say it, design has a dated vibe. Modular is great, but honestly, nobody but tech heads will care, and even then, how many are gonna carry around extra pieces? I appreciate the effort though. OEMs need to try different things like this, let the consumers decide what sticks.

Other than a slightly smaller screen, slightly smaller battery than 3,00mAh, and lack of waterproofing (all of which I personally don't care about), I think the G5 deserves props for brining different features to the table.

I think they should have gone with capacitive buttons on the sides of the LG logo.
