As I remember Adobe said in March. Only 5 days left if they will do March.
I have a shoot coming this Sunday, hopefuly we'll get the update by then
Adobe didn't say March, only rumor sites, and the insiders aren't saying anything either. As I remember Adobe said in March. Only 5 days left if they will do March.
I would NEVER consider updating hardware or software when I had any important work pending.
I would only update when I had some time to test and evaluate the new version before having to use it for real work.
Starting to lose interest if I'm honest. I mean, I'll probably just pay my £50 upgrade fee just for the sake of owning it and having the option, but I've been really enjoying VSCO Cam. It's proving to be such a versatile and powerful app, available on my iPhone and iPad. Just wish they had a RAW convertor desktop app, they could be a great competitor. I know they sell Lightroom 5 presets, but that's not the same as using their app - in my opinion.
If I buy Lightroom 5 now and Lightroom 6 comes out in a couple weeks, would I be screwed or get a free upgrade?
I'm honestly starting to think about this again myself. It has nothing to do with the LR delay, but I like you do a lot of my quick edits in VSCO Cam (and I have a film pack, ironically in my opinion the $10 filter packs are better than the $100 film pack).
The other side of this is I just can't get the simplicity and amazing performance of Photos out of my head. It is way way way too simple, but in a way that could be a good thing (limiting options can sometimes help you create better things). Syncing my LR library to different computers isn't quite as seamless as I would like and is actually taking up a lot of room already (30 GB from 2 months of shooting + back catalog). The nearline storage of Photos is so appealing - I'd love to be able to edit photos on my laptop but it is such a pain right now.
So I don't know, we'll see what happens. I am already locked into LR for a year, but I'm going to keep a close eye on Photos and will likely use both for a while until I fall into a rhythm.
Seriously though if VSCO would create a plugin for Photos (when this is possible) or a whole Mac app, that might be it for me. I'm just feeling like LR may be too heavy for my needs at the moment.
BTW, you have some amazing photos on your Flickr page, great work.
Photos does not look too bad for modest users like myself. But I need a way to remove unwanted objects similar to the healing brush in LR. The only tool in photos is one that just smudges and smears. Looks like it would be fine for solid back rounds but useless otherwise. If I can get a healing brush and NIK plug-ins, Photos may suit my needs.
I, too, am a fan of the VSCO cam app. It's the only app I use on my phone besides the camera app. It seems MUCH better than the $99+ I paid for one of their Lightroom packs, in which I could NEVER get the photos processed like they have in their examples.
Ya I don't quite get it. The VSCO Film packs seem to be too heavy handed. If you use them as they are out of the box, in most cases it looks like your photos have been dragged through a dumpster - just way over processed. They're typically too dark and have WAY too much grain.
I've gotten good results by dialing a few of those things back, but it is amazing as well to me that after paying ~ $100 I that I can't get results similar to those in their sample images without any additional work. Isn't that the point of presets?
One other thing to add here, I've noticed that the Black levels slider in Photos is much better than in Lightroom (Black levels is one of those settings I feel like I really have to crank in LR to see any result - shadows are the same way). I have trouble replicating the faded look manually in LR, but it's a snap with Photos primarily just by using the black level slider. This is one of the primary tricks of VSCO - adding a fade, so it's nice I can add this easily in Photos.
Yep. I felt I was playing around with the sliders too much, especially at the price they charge. It is a preset afterall. It's why I only bought one pack from them. Their examples look damn good. Do bad I can't actually replicate them.
I love their iOS app. It's what I think the LR stuff should be. One click, maybe a slider for the intesity and a few changes for the exposure and sharpening and done. I love they FINALLY added the copy and paste feature which was badly needed. Now I can do a whole set of photos easily.
I may still process my photos using LR, but only to set the initial exposure and color, noise reduction, (if needed), and had my geotagging. Then export them to my phone and use VSCO to finish it off.
In Lightroom?
How does VSCO Cam invoke and use plugins the same as Lightroom and Aperture can do? How do you use the Nik Collection, Pixelmator, Perfect Photo Suite or other plugin?
