Get an XR, save some money for nigh on same iPhone, different arguement but good iPhone none the less.

Sensible advice. I'm considering the XR for sure, but so far it feels unwieldy to me (I'm a woman with narrow hands). But I'm going to stop in the Apple Store to hold it a few more times over the coming weeks to see if I can get used to it, since I remember thinking the 7 was impossibly gigantic when I got that too.

I really would try. It's so difficult to try for a few mins in Apple as well though, however Apple have a good policy of return within 14 days where you can really get a "feel" of it and try it out extensively.

It's difficult to gauge when you always have your old phone as a direct comparison. You soon forget when just using new one. I had an X, now an XR, it is wider though. Makes the iPad purchase feel better though for cost!!

The 10.5 is fantastic. Would have considered upgrading on a sale if the price was lower, but now I'm good with my 10.5 for a few years at least given my use.

well my reasons

this is my Xmas gift and I like new toys and I have the money

new pencil support, easier charging
the new keyboard is way more solid than the 10.5 one, still not backlit which blows ass
face id with no home button, I really like that...
almost edge to edge
