While I certainly hope it's tomorrow... there's really no guarantee. It's likely before the month's end... but honestly who knows for certain.

Here's to hoping! There's a great chance at least :)

Keep in mind the stores aren't there for you and me, they're there for Grandma who has an iPhone 3G with 768 apps, all of which were free, and who needs help every time she upgrades her OS.

It's not that the goal isn't to upsell, of course it is... but the thing is if they get a buzz for releasing a new OS tomorrow, lots of new feet will come through the doors. If they then release a new laptop next week, lots MORE new feet. :)

true. which is why the apple store rep essentially forced me to go through his 5-10 minute orientation spiel when i bought my ipad 2 last month, even though i protested and acted annoyed. i did actually learn 2-3 useful things (i don't have an iphone).

waiting until thursday last week was awful. since then i've just periodically checked the rumor sites. but now, i'm back to full fledged obsessive mania.

I've been using it for a week... it's far more of an update than Leopard to Snow Leopard, but that didn't stop Apple for making it sound like the greatest thing since sliced Apples. hehe

no, i was talking about the MBA, not lion. i would consider lion to be a major release.

Funny you mention that, I had the same thing happen, he kept saying "you can do this..." and I just rolled my eyes as I'd had 2 iPads prior... then he said a couple things I completely forgot about. The store experience is excellent. It's hands down the best retail experience out there today.

the rep was so friendly and earnest, it was hard to be too annoyed when it was apparent he just wanted to make sure i had a good experience.

2 things worry me

- the apple CFO only confirmed lion for tomorrow
- there has been no tweets about blacked out apple stores

But then again they delayed it soley for lion.

Keep in mind, it's highly anticipated that they'll keep the existing form factor. Would they add additional ports? Maybe. Would they add a backlit keyboard? Possibly. If it's just a spec bump, you wouldn't even be able to tell by looking at them if they replace the MBAs

But when they launched MacBook Air, they didn't even have store display models for 2 days from the time they got stock. At least that's how it was here in SF. The day AFTER they became on-sale, they put 1 11" display up, but that's it.

This is so. Why are we so delusional? :D It's wishful thinking, and sort of.....crazy maybe :D.

There's nada about the Air, when there should be things like you mention. Right?

The online Apple Store still shows the current MBA ships in less than 24 hrs... doesn't that usually change to a longer duration when a refresh is imminent?

NOOOOOOOOOO

Just talked to my buddy at Apple store. He's on the visual team tonight, and they just got their list of project, and it's ONLY Lion refresh. BOOOOOOO!

They're always the last to know anyhow. Just because they're not refreshing tonight doesn't mean the new one won't go on sale tomorrow. With laptops, they go on sale, and then that day or the next the store gets them. I always know about new products launching before he does, thanks to Macrumors, hahaha... The combined power of a community of knowledge on here is always going to beat an individual low-level retail employee's info.

EDIT - Evidence being he didn't know Lion was launching till 20 mins ago when he got the new project instructions for tonight. On here it was published when Apple announced it 6 hours ago, haha.

He's obviously a PC working in an Apple costume.

Good if a law dropout and a law grad together can't figure it out, it must be rubbish. ;-)

If he works in an Apple store but didnt even know about the pending Lion release, he's most likely not an Apple user.

They follow rumors just like the rest of us, but they don't know about new products going on sale until they hear with the rest of us, and don't know when they'll be in-store until they open the boxes and see the product themselves.

They were not told in advance when lion will be released. You act like it's been announced as tomorrow for the last month. The ONLY credible official announcement was made today at 430pm for the first time.

Mate, it wasnt a dig at your friend. Just saying that he's most likely a PC user if he didnt hear about the Lion launch. You said he didnt hear about it launching, not that he didnt hear about it launching tomorrow.

Sorry, they all know it's coming, they watched the keynote in the store. Most the Apple employees are Apple fans too, just not to the extent that most of US are, hehe.

I laugh at all the people who want to believe so bad that they fabricate evidence in their mind to make themselves believe. Guess that's how organized religion grips the flyover states, haha

Ha ha ya youre a class A douche
