Well since I'm impatient, I phoned Apple to inquire as to why my order went from "Prepared" to "Not Yet". She stated that my MBA wont ship until Feb 6th, and the "Prepared" status and credit authorization were done by accident.

I'm aware she could know less than dirt, and I have learned to take service reps word for what its worth.... Nonetheless, it's quite disappointing and not the answer I was looking for.

Has anyone seen this happen before with a pre-order?

It would be awesome if they did a hidden speed bump kind of like they did with the MBP(or was it macpro?) where in the time between when they announced it and when it shipped they went ahead and threw in faster procs

That would be awesome.

You tried to spin the fact that Apple stocked a large amount of the hottest product of 2007 as proof that they screwed you over as an early adopter. Unfortunately, your powers of persuasion are pathetically weak and your argument falls flat on its face.

OK, jackass, let me explain for your simple mind. I am an early adopter. I want the iPhone first. So I uproot my life to go wait in ****ing line for several hours when THEY HAD MORE THAN ENOUGH IN STOCK TO SATISFY DEMAND. I understand the need to drum up a buzz but I was really annoyed to have been jerked around like that.

Agreed. The 12" Powerbook was a glorified iBook. It never got much fanfare due to it's slowness and limited ram options, no backlit keyboard or ambient light sensor and no PC card slot and the GPU was subpar at best. Now that the Air is released and essentially the replacement of the 12" people are acting like the 12" was a revolutionary product since the lightbulb when in fact the Air offers a lot more.

I liked the 12" iBook and PB. They were small which made them great for high school students (which I was during production) to use in class and travel with. After a few minor 3rd party adjustments they were a pretty cool machine. I never owned one myself but have borrowed them many times from my school to take to school competitions. However, I also noted the shortcomings mentioned that wouldn't make it necessarily a Pro series. The MBA still rules though.

Enough with the rumours...how about some details? If anyone is making these claims how about forwarding on a screen shot of the shipment status.

Can't stand liars.......must be Windows Users still pissed about Vista....

And they will be pissed for at least another 5 years!

This seems reasonable. I just ordered one from Apple in case I can't get one from the store first.

Can we return an unopened one that was ordered online at a Apple store?

I am thinking that if they hit the stores well before mine is delivered I will buy one from a store and return the delivered one to the store, assuming it will be too late to cancel the ordered one.

i don't think you can.,.. apple sees them are completely seperate things and i onced called them about that and they said thier computer systems are different and can't see each other apprently

u can however return it back to apple online but u'll prob have to pay for this shipping charge back

my status is still the same
i highly doubt that guy had his order shipped already

Just got back from a trip out of town and saw that my MacBook Air has shipped and should arrive on Friday. Freaking awesome!

Here are screen shots - since I have now seen two people say theirs shipped and provided zero confirmation.

He can just be going by what Steve Jobs said in the keynote about "shipping in two weeks".

Nonsense if you want a Macbook Air today just get one off eBay. They got one on there running jaguar and running at 2 GHz, and it is only 900 dollars. Of course the seller has a feedback of 1, but don't let that stop you.
