The 1.8/SSD ships just as fast as the standard model. Today's shipment is out, but you should see prepared for shipment later today and it should be shipping tomorrow.
My 1.8/80 has just shipped (about 18hrs after prepared for ship status appeared). Due for delivery on 13 Feb (was 19 Feb).

I'm planning on buying a hardcover book of the right format, cutting a mold into the pages that the MBA fits in and lining the inside with something soft. Should make a stylish, cheap and sturdy case.

That's weird, mine changed from merge GB to fastship too! which is annoying because i just rang up yesterday to cancel the airline adaptor which was slowing the order down, but now since it looks as though accessories will ship separately (my superdrive is prepared to dispatch but the rest of my order isn't) it wouldn't have slowed down the order afterall!
Strange.... I ordered my superdrive separately and have just checked order status and it's finally changed to 'prepared for shipment'..
Do the superdrives ship from China too or locally I wonder ?

i plan on reinstalling OS X as soon as i get mine to save some valuable gigs, languages, printer drivers etc.
