Still no status change.. and I ordered the hour the store came up after the keynote. Don't see any logic in their way of handling their customer orders, if they have any. Apart from their preference for the US marked. I hope my experiences with the MBA will outperform those of the order handling

So far all I've seen with the MBA is that there are some serious amounts of pre-orders and US goes somewhat first. In Europe there hasn't seem to be the same "HDD first" -attitude that US got (if only for a few days worth). I guess the demand is a bit overwhelming, especially if they have little or no stock ready.

I'm currently feeling a bit left out, I'm on hold for two 1,8/SSD systems through my local Apple retailer so I don't even have online tracking, just some "assuring" words "probably next week"...

There certainly doesnt seem to be any rhyme or reason in the way they are handling our orders. It's not even on a first come / first serve basis it seems.

Damn circumstances have left me using an old ibook 12" G4 800mhz as a temp laptop as the person I geared up to buy my SR MBP wanted it sooner.... I want my MBA!! * sulks like a big baby * and i can still cancel my order on the Apple store which means I'm still no closer to shipping

I don't know what's worse. Waiting for it to ship - or the 5-8 days it will take to arrive after shipping

Actually, so far we have only had action on orders placed on the day of the keynote, so I don't think you have it quite right there.

As for the 5-8 days, it won't take that long (so long as your Air ships before Chinese New Year begins on Feb. 7).

Just look at my order and the one from dexpot (#1 and #2 on the list). We're both in Germany and his delivery should take 4 days, mine 9. I believe their computer plays dice to figure out the delivery dates

Strange...

I just called apple to see if they would give me anymore information over the phone than on their website because I'm due to go away next week and would prefer it to not be sitting somewhere waiting for me to come back. The lady I spoke to told me to expect it on the 14th and then elaborated that the delivery times had got longer but my one was now showing its original date again. Strange I thought because it has said that date everyday since I ordered the damn thing.

On another note, I have a theory as to why some of the CTO orders are showing as prepared for shipment. I think what's probably happening is that standard configurations are being shipped to europe en-masse and will then be shipped to individuals from within europe. The custom ones will be assigned to individuals at the factory and will therefore need to be tracked from the moment they leave the factory. On the bright side, we should see the standard ones shipped much quicker... I hope!

Well I placed mine directly after the keynote!! NOT FAIR

Oh as for 5-8 days. Trust me I know UPS & TNT delivery times from China. That figure is truly optomistic. TNT are better than UPS, but that's not hard. Nearly every order I've had delivered via UPS has got lost along the way.
The last macbook we ordered took 3 weeks to get to us. It took about 5 days to get to the UK, and then UPS bodged up everything after that.

The machine came in from UK - Dublin, then Dublin - UK, then UK - Germany, then Germany - UK, then uK - Belfast, then Belfast - UK, then UK to Shannon (yay! right airport), then Shannon to UK , then UK to Dublin , then Dublin - Belfast, then Belfast - UK, then finally UK - Shannon and then out for delivery....

I kid you not...

They even lost my last order for Leopard too, and Apple ended up refunding me €40 for the problems with delivery.

Seriously UPS are the worst delivery agent ever. I am praying when my MBA does ship that it comes in via TNT otherwise I may just have a nervous breakdown

Because yours is a BTO and the others are standard CTO configurations.

I think you mean mine is CTO and the others are BTO?

Because its written CTO in the Status.. If knew that would delay it, I would paid the extra and got the 1.8 version, but i just saved some by ordering 1.6 + SSD.

My only problem is that am leaving the country for 2 weeks on 19Feb, so imagine it just comes after I go..

Don't give up hope. Mine was scheduled to be shipped on the 5th and arrive on the 13th, and it was just prepared for shipment now.

Not yet. I got one with the original schedule a long time ago. The schedule still reads Feb 6/13
