Yeah, Fireworks would probably be the app if you want more artistic freedom.

For pure vector wors there are indeed cheaper options than Illustrator with Inkscape being the most affordable (free).

Tried Inkscape, very complicated and hard to use but versatile.

Avisnocturna was so nice and gave me access to logoist V1.1 Beta....very impressive, thanks!

Is there any way to adjust the canvas automatically to the size of the current layers?

Text with a bevel/highlight is not a 'logo'.

Write that down!

This is only a demonstration of a new effect in logoist! I only used text and a clipart image to make clear what the new glass shader looks like

You can apply these effects to any path or image
 
Is it possible to reorder effects? For example, I have 2 shadow filter added and I want to have the order reversed
