Then you obviously havent heard about the Sony N-series laptops.

and that dell runs LOUD and HOT...not to mention the base is 2" thick by itself. My hall mate has one. So I would know. I can vouch for ThinkPads though, prior to the Lenovo takeover. Damn solid machines they are.

Maybe you need you eyes and ears checked it's not 2" thick with the whole thing. it barely even goes loud. And you certainly lieing about heat it dosnet get above 60 degrees and by then the fans are on.

As for "mate" I own one I would know way better then you.
Macbooks aren't that great I own one.

Apples (pun intended) to Oranjes.

How can you compare a minimalistic less than 1" thick laptop to one of those laptops with gigantic vent holes and 2" in thickness?

they arent for the same minded people, they arent comparable.

what you like and don't is a personal preference. some consider audi makes luxury vehicles, others think they sell overpriced VWs.

i heard these acers are actually selling pretty well, so well that another competitor (asus?) is doing the same with lamborghini.

frankly...the Thinkpads are probably the ugliest things I've ever seen besides this sony desktop that apparently they have discontinued (God, the thing should have NOT been created *crosses self*) But the N series notebooks do look quite like Macbooks. And the ls series....can anyone say iMac ripoff five times fast while upside down underwater.... but I do think it is sleek and stylish....I just don't like the similarity (and the fact it's over priced by a couple hundred $.)

Dimensions (W x D x H)-- 13.2 in x 10.8 in x 1.9 in
Service & support type-- 1 year warranty

Sorry for being .1" wrong. I did a visual guesstimate. And the particular suite mate's is hot and loud. Maybe yours isnt...but then you said it wasnt 2" thick....so who to trust? i dont know. Last time i checked, the P4 runs pretty hot..especially a 3GHz one.

edit: "
Cons:
Motherboard over heats, burnt up first year. Service replaced board, upgraded firmware to keep fan running, reduced battery life to less than 1 hour. 8 months later, system starting to just short out and die. Dell refused to renew warranty after 1 year." LOUD AND HOT? I THINK SO. sorry for the rant. People like you tick me off.

and who the hell said "mate"...you own a "mate"...you own a hallmate?

you said: "it could beat a mackbook in battery life with a pentium 4 it get's over 4 hours." UM NO. read "cons" from cnet.

edit2: after reading some posts of TechGuy, he's a trolling dell lover. To other readers: I'm sorry for the malice in this post...i'm tired and sore from the gym.

No, it's not just about personal tastes. People that say that are the people that don't value good design.
this is apple user arrogance that ive come accross before. most apple users do not force opinions on anyone or blatently disregard others opinions, and are open to the whole live and let live ideals, but a few such as this narrow minded fool think that only they can have an opinion. note to you dude, opinions are great because anyone can have as many as they want!!! so your statement should be rounded off with an "in my opinion". each to their own is the best way to say it. look at the thinkpads, many people say they are ugly as the back end of a mule with foodpoisoning, but they are really well designed. the one my friend has has a waterproof keyboard, and the keyboard is at a tiny slant, so if you spill liquid into it, it simply flows out the front. It may be ugly in somebodys opinion, but thats a fantastic idea. thinkpads are full of little things like that.

Some people just don't get minimalism. Brighter, flashier, with more bells and whistles.

Or some people don't like minimalism. Some people think it's pretentious.

EVERYONE thinks both macbooks look nice, just some people think one looks nicer. In real life this laptop looks O.K. but there are plenty of VAIOs nicer...

Well some people don't think the MacBooks look all that great, especially under the lid where the keyboard is. I like the white model, but I don't think the black model looks particular special at all, especially when dirty.

Yes, the black MacBook looks "OK", but so does this computer.

Ummm it's kind of tacky and I'm guess Acer's target audience with this product is for people with little or no taste ;)

It is my opinion that I don't care what you're opinion is... it isn't going to make me change mine, nor agree that yours is good to make you feel better. I'm not open minded, because the simple fact is a lot of people have bad opinions. If someone thinks that Dell looks great, I'm not going to accept it as "oh, well, to each their own" - that goes against my own strongly held values, which are based on my ability to see. I'll tell them exactly what I think - it's hideous and they have no taste. If you don't like that, too bad.

And wasn't I the one who originally said ThinkPads were the best PCs, or are you missing something?
