Am I the only one that's super happy with their purchase? My compile and unit tests complete in a third of the time my 2018 i9 with 32gig took. I do this for much of the day so I'm getting back lots of time every day.

Bonus: photography and video are hobbies and I could not be happier about how my new mbp handles both, at the same time I am running unit tests or compiling something.

I don't see many posts from people who seem happy with their purchase, which surprises me.

Because people that actually get work done don't sit around complaining on forums all day :)

OK, appreciate the links to other sections of the forum. I was actually talking about this section of the forum though. That OK?
That's A-OK. Here I took to mean the forum as a whole, obviously, rather than the Apple Silicon (Arm) Macs section. But the 2 links specifically refer to silicon macs, so seems arbitrary to exclude them, but it's your thread.

that's just the nature of the beast. People who are happy tend to go about their business. People who are unhappy are the ones most likely to post about it.

Well my 2021 10 core 14” MBP easily runs Cubase songs, with lots of VST instruments and plugins, that crippled my 2019 8 core i9 MBP.

And it does it on battery. While the fans are inaudible and the computer is what I’d describe as ‘warm’. In comparison the i9 blasted the fans at 4500 rpm and literally doubled as a foot warmer in winter when set up in clamshell mode. LOL

Hell, the 14” doesn’t even need to be run with turbo boost turned off all day!

I'm super happy with my 16" M1 Pro purchase. My system feels quicker and smoother with more RAM. The screen is absolutely amazing. Already using the HDMI port. I never notice the notch. And it's actually a lot thinner than I expected. It looks thicker in pictures but not in real life.

The OP may be talking about the ratio of threads regarding happiness or complaining. You found two, but they’re outnumbered probably 5:1 with threads of unhappy people detailing their own experience.

I’m very happy with my M1 Mini. Very fast and responsive.
I'm not exactly sure, but I think the OP was referring to unhappy posts about M1 Pro/Max MBP's.

BTW - I'm also thrilled with my M1 Mini. Not that there aren't a few squirrels in the attic (BT weirdness, sleep mode with my monitor), but I knew that going in. All other expectations - speed, quietness, value - have been exceeded.

What's the point of going on endlessly about how wonderful the laptops are? There are enough written and video reviews with glowing commentary and benchmarks out the wazoo.

I'd just as soon hear about what problems people are having to see if I have similar issues and make sure anything that might need to be taken care of under warranty is taken care of.

New macbooks are ugly outdated bricks, but they have the performance and there's no alternative till Apple updates iMac and Mac Pro... people don't really have choise, so they're willing to close their eyes on the negatives.
LOL - OK then. How on earth are the iMac and Mac Pro alternatives to the MacBook Pro?

I hope you're not needing a MacBook Pro, because the current design will be around till 2026 or so.

They are not ugly. I like the looks. I like that they’re thicker for better airflow. ?

I’m really happy with my M1 Pro 16GB. Definitely a increase in my productivity over my 2019 15” 32GB. This is the MacBook I’ve been waiting for, for quite a few years.

On these forums? I don't think so lol. There are a few trolls and contrarians but doom and gloom? You'd need to go elsewhere.
