I backed this project originally but after picking up one of the cases off ebay there's basically no difference other then the digital crown and extra grill on the left side. Sure the original is a little smaller as well but the price difference is huge. Rather purchase a couple different color fakes off ebay then one original at this point. And like others pointed out, best buy has a different version of this case out as well made from different materials. So the whole kickstarter thing really isn't needed this time.

Still need to change the screen protector to the armor edition off amazon, arrived yesterday. But the material for this case is aluminum. I've hit it a few times on doors and my desk, no issues at all in terms of impact. By far worth the 25.99 price tag I paid. Will be purchasing another color or two off ebay this week.

I would be cautious when buying a metal case as it could diminish the RF performance.

This is one of the reasons I liked the high impact plastic case!

just my .02:cool:

This case seems like a bad idea. What are you going to do if you get water in there.. unscrew the entire thing and then reassemble?

The watch has been proven to be waterproof over and over again. And this case isn't air tight... there should be plenty of room for airflow.

Thought the same thing but there's been no difference in RF performance. It connects to everything with no issues at all.

I don't think this is the worst idea. To me though:

1. It doesn't show much originality. They really just reapplied their original Nano case product which I have.

2. One of the biggest problems I have is the fact that it uses its own band/bands rather than allowing for the use of the actual Apple bands. I see this as a major failing point in design.

3. They put a seam down the middle. There are plenty of ways to make a case that snaps on or otherwise attaches, but I really didn't like this approach. I think they rushed it out revamping what they already knew rather than actually taking the time to design something for the Apple Watch.

There's a difference between getting the watch wet, and allowing water to get in and sit there. Terrible idea.

There's lots of room for the water come out and honestly if I got my watch wet I would gladly take it out and wipe it off. But I don't ever plan on having my watch get wet, even if I'm outside and it rains I put it in my pocket in a bag, same goes for my phone. Heard way to many stories of people having their devices waterlogged. Ebay is fun to look at for those stories. :)

That kind of defeats the purpose of a case but I do like the design of this case and iphone cases, not really of fan of having my watch/phone naked.

Yea, I have no plans on my calendar of getting my watch wet.. but that logic escapes me. It's way easier to keep a phone dry than a watch that's tethered to your wrist. Your watch will get wet if you are a living human.

Would love to see a side shot of it. These knock offs seem to be thicker than the actual kickstarter version.

Side views, yes it is definitely taller and doesn't have the second grill on the left side. But it does contain a hole for the mic, everything works perfectly. Haven't had any RF issues or call issues.

I've yet to see a watch case that didn't look hideous

People wear their $10k+ Rolex watches everyday without a case yet I'm seeing screen protectors and watch cases on these things

These case makers invented this watch case market because they knew they'd sucker people into this

I'm seeing a $1k black link beautiful Apple watch in this thread look ghastly with a case

Wow, you are so cool and edgy because you wear your watch naked. Your design sense is so much more evolved and dare I say it... urbane than ours.

Give it a rest. We like it, you don't. No one here cares what you think.

No need to get angry, but please tell when you've ever seen someone put a case on a watch

Your comparing apples to oranges here. This is coming from someone that owns an Omega plant ocean, 2 breitling, and an Bell and Ross.

If you had a flip phone would you put a case on that? Probably not. But you would on your iPhone. They're both phones, again it's apples and oranges.

----------

Also I prefer this case and band because it gives the watch a bigger overall look and feel. If Apple made a 45mm I'd be ok with that.

Agreed. I own a Omega PO as well, and the uses for the two are completely different. I'm interested in this particular case for my AW, but I wouldn't be interested in protection for my Omega. Apples and Oranges. (or Oceans)

Yep I LOVE my Lunatik from Best Buy!

I feel safe that I will not scrape my watch against a wall or anything else. I took a Sport with blue strap and turned it into a black beauty. I like how it makes the digital crown so easy to access!

the case does feel a bit flimsy when it is empty BUT when you encase a watch it becomes very well balanced well at least for me and I have 235mm wrists and I can wear it loosely on the second to last slot!

I get angry because I'm sick of people here acting like Apple is the absolute end to design and function. The "Apple designed it so it must be perfect" herd mentality is annoying and condescending.

The basic flaw in that thinking is that no one puts cases on watches because all normal watches basically do the same things. I can pick from 100 different brands from no name $5 watches at Walmart to $100,000 swiss mechanical masterpieces, and everything in between depending on the environment i'm going to be in.

Apple makes one fairly fragile design aimed at fashion more than function. I can't take it off and put on a G-Shock when I go mountain biking and expect the same functionality. A case like this gives me the protection and look of a more durable watch.

I agree! what really worried is the domed glass screen that I felt I was going to scratch within the first day of ownership!

Best way I have seen it put.

I used to switch out from a Tag to a G Shock when I was casual/out and about playing sports/at the park.

With the apple watch, I either put on a Spigen Case when I am being active or wear it as is when not being active.
