Are people seriously trying to benchmark integrated GPUs with dedicated GPUs? Considering the Intel 13” MBP has Intel GPUs, wouldn’t that comparison make more sense?

Well it’s still a laptop. 4 years is not that much. A 4-year old *dedicated* graphics card can still run pretty much anything today, and it’s an entry-level pro. I’d agree with you if Apple was selling a 2-5k computer with this chip, but these laptops are $700-1300, around the same price range as the new iPhones.

The M1 literally has, far and away, the fastest integrated GPU ever in the history of computing. The iGPU is significantly faster than AMD's best iGPU and AMD is a company dedicated to making GPUs (and CPUs).

Like others have said, I'd be pissed off if this iGPU is inside a $3000 Macbook Pro 16". I'm beyond impressed that it's in entry level Macs.

There are other legitimate things to complain about such as starting with a measly 8GB of ram in 2020 and keeping the stupid touchbar. The iGPU is not something we should complain about.

This makes me very happy, seeing as I’m replacing my 2018 MBP 15” with the M1 Mac Mini. The lack of a discrete GPU was what held me off from prior Minis, but seeing that the M1 trounces the Radeon 560 that my MBP runs is fantastic.

i was planning to get a M1 system but fear got in the way at the 11th hour so I bought a Intel MacBook Pro 2020 13”. Maybe when the M1x or m2 come out o may trade in the intel one. It will get better

You do realise the M1's graphics is way faster than the computer you just brought? The OP was not happy because the integrated graphics of the M1 didn't beat a discrete desktop GPU

Look at the units the M1 is in - the Mac Mini, MBA and MBP 13. All of these have always been iGPU machines and the M1 GPU absolutely obliterates them as well as every iGPU in existence.

I concur. Seriously, there is no way that an on package chip that is sharing memory with CPU cores and other cores, can have the performance of a dedicated GPU, like the 2060.

Some of you that expected the performance like Nvidia's discrete GPUs, just don't understand how computer components work.

Okay, I just ran gfxbench Metal on my MBP 16 with the Radeon Pro 5500M. And, it looks really competitve.

For example, my MBP 16 on Aztec Ruins High Tier gets 2863.62 frames, or 44.5353 fps. M1 clocks in at 3492 frames or 54.3 fps. It is similar in other tests.

So M1 is performing on par with the discrete graphics on my MBP 16 it seems.

What is "pro" graphics? "Pro" work is not gaming so the only concern is if the compute is strong enough and there you have a good point.
