No color issues with a UL600 but I do have an issue where my external monitor will be yellow tint/hue if I leave it plugged into hdmi overnight. Seems like some night setting or something on the MacBook?

For anyone still researching LG monitors, I've been using LG32UN650 for over three weeks with my Mac Mini. I used the HDMI cable provided in the box, and I haven't had to fiddle with anything at all.

Dweevo and Hugodrax -- What resolution do you have your monitor at and what color profile? And Dweevo, do you mind sharing what Picture Mode you have set for the 27UL600? I'm currently using Displayport, but I'll try HDMI. Thanks guys.
Did you get this fixed on your LG 27UL600-W 4K monitor? Cheers.

Hi all–
I’ve had the 24” 4k ultrafine for awhile and a 27” LG 4k (usb-c) one. For flickering issues, I recommend using a thunderbolt cable from Apple (they’re like $40 for 2 meters or like $130 for one twice as long—ugh). There also used to be software from LG where you could adjust the monitor’s color profile—I think “cinema” got rid of the neon for me.
Hope this helps somebody.
Hi! When you say "24-inch 4K ultrafine" do you mean you connected your M1 Mac to the Dell P2415Q?

I need to connect my M1 MBP, but unsure if a DisplayPort cable or an HDMI cable is the better way to go.

I've just got an M1 MacBook Pro and have connected to my LG 27UD88-W and the image is all washed out and colours are off. My 2017 MacBook Pro connected with the same USB-C cable is perfect. I've been back and forth with Apple support over the last few days to no avail. What I have noticed in the settings is that the M1 locks the Black Level at Low where as the 2017 Locks it at High but it's greyed out so I can't change it. Any one have similar issue with this or other LG monitors and have been able to fix it?

For anyone with colour and/or dead HDMI on wake issues (the latter being the issue I continually experience), please report this to Apple using https://feedbackassistant.apple.com/. I've had a ticket open since last December, and I know it's not getting ignored because I did receive an update at one point suggesting that the last update to Big Sur might fix things (unfortunately it did not).

At the top of the report, it says "Recent Similar Reports: None". The more of us who report it through official channels (i.e. what Apple developers are accessing directly), the better chance we have of getting things fixed. That said, I have issues going back to 2004 that are still marked as open, so definitely no guarantees. But it only takes a few minutes, and it can't hurt.

I'd say things are a bit better, but my 4K LG display connected via HDMI will still stop receiving any signal from the HDMI port when my computer wakes up from sleep at least a few times a week. I've since also got a 5K LG which is connected via Thunderbolt. Occasionally, it will have this weird pixel shift for a segment of the display when waking up from sleep, but thankfully it's easily resolved by putting the display to sleep again and waking it up (which I trigger with a hot corner).

For what it's worth we get washed out colours in our Samsung 28-inch 4K monitor, but not Samsung HD monitor, with the M1 Air

Same monitor with the 2020 Intel Air gave us no such problems.
Which Samsung model? Connected by HDMI?

I just got LG 32UN880-B and it is connected to my M1 Mini using USB-C. It seems to work but for some reason if I have other computers connected to monitor using DP and HDMI cables AND even if those other computers are not powered on, LG monitor keeps asking me every time I power on M1 Mini that "a new external USB-C device is found" (or something like that) and whether I want to use it YES or NO. So needs that additional pressing YES to get image and if not selecting anything it stay black saying no input or similar (I did not wrote down exact message)!?!?!

If no other inputs are connected but USB-C from Mini is plugged to monitor, it does not ask this and give picture from USB-C right away.
I found no way to make monitor remember this and not to ask every time... Typical LG user interface.

Monitor arm is great in 32UN880-B but monitor software and connector "solidness" is something that is not convincing (USB-C connector especially seems and feel fragile and the cable that comes with monitor is stiff so careful when adjusting arm).

I also had to use plist trick to force RGB mode but it works.

Panel quality is acceptable, doesn't resolve bright detail quite as well as LG IPS (this one supposedly have BOE panel) but colors are nice but not overly saturated maybe a bit dull side compared to MBA M1 (partly due to matte surface too). Panel uniformity is not perfect either, acceptable and somewhat better (at least not quite as red in edges) than in Dell U2720Q I returned. Panel does get dimmer around edges, just like those Dell monitors I returned.

New M1 Mac Mini hooked to my 2019 LG - 27UL600-W. Seems fine so far.
What resolution are you running it at? I've got the exact same model (and same Mac mini) and the only way I can get 4k scaled to 1920x1080 (retina)@ 60Hz is to use a USB C to Display Port adapter. Doing HDMI only gets me 30Hz. Same cable and monitor has no issues doing 1920x1080 scaled @ 60Hz on my 2018 Intel Mini w/ HDMI

Just as an additional data point: I use an LG 27UK850-W connected to my M1 Mac Mini with a regular HDMI cable. It works perfectly, no color issues or anything, no tricks needed. In System Information it shows up like this:

LG HDR 4K:
Resolution: 5120 x 2880 (5K/UHD+ - Ultra High Definition Plus)
UI Looks like: 2560 x 1440 @ 60.00Hz

Initially I had some issues with the screen only showing 1/4 of its content after waking up from sleep, which I could fix by manually changing the resolution to a different one and then back. But that was fixed with macOS 11.4. I never had issues with the display not waking up after sleep or anything like that.

I have a 2020 LG 27UL600W connected to the MacMini M1 with HDMI cable that came with the monitor on 2560x1440@60Hz, scaled with no issues. I get reasonable P3 accuracy on the default “LG HDR 4K“ colour profile.

LG 27UN500 connected to my M1 MBA via HDMI. Works perfectly, and looks stunning. Using my own (too expensive!) HDMI cable.

Hi

Which resolutions do you have? I was with a 27" LG 27UL850 at 2560x1440 with usb-c but wanted to go up to 3008x1692 but with 27" it looked a bit small. Have you tried with usb-c to hdmi?

That looks like a nice monitor though at 27" I would rather have something a bit higher resolution. Apple's 24" iMac 4.5k looks like a pretty good compromise if it were used in a 27" with 4480x2520 at 190 dpi. The 3840x2160 is only 163 dpi. I have a 24" LG 24UD58-B 4K which has a dpi of ~185. I've currently settled on running scaled on 2304x1296 scaled HiDpi.

What's wrong with 2560x1440 on your 27"? Sounds like it would be about the best possible scaled resolution for a 4K 27".

I've used my Mac mini with both an LG 32GK650F 1440p @144hz and LG 34GP83A-B (Ultrawide 1440p @ 144hz) and both seemed to work just fine. Only issue I had was the Ultrawide had issues with the HDMI cable--I couldn't get higher than 85hz, but using a USB-C to DisplayPort cable worked fine which, I suppose, makes sense.

I do have an issue where the stupid thing will wake every 20-30 minutes or so, seems to be tied to whenever I get a notification on my phone whether or not that App providing the notification is open, or even installed, on my Mac mini. I wonder if it has to do with Handoff or whatever its called...either way, can't seem to fix it or find the culprit so I just turn the monitor off now.

You are right, the 2560x1440 looked great on the 27" LG... the problem was I wanted to have more space (to have some Excels in parallel + Safari) and going to 3008x1692 on the 27" looked too tiny for me. That's why I returned the 27" and I am looking now for a 32", but wanted to make sure the 3008x1692 is available (specially if I go for a cheaper non-USB-C monitor). I think 3008x1692 on a 32" should be a sweet spot and an improvement from my previous 2014 5K 27" iMac (due to the increased space thanks to that higher resolution)

Will swap it! Your HDMI directly only does 30Hz? Can you run 4K at the non-scaled to 1080p resolution? Thanks.
I connect my LG 4K display to my M1 MBA by HDMI via Apple's USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adaptor (which also gives me one USB-C for power and one USB-C for my wireless mouse dongle). This gives me 4K at 60Hz. I run the display at the middle scaling option (looks like 2560 x 1440), but all other scaling options are available to me. I can run the display at the native resolution, but it's too small for me. The 2560 x 1440 also gives true pixel doubling for a retina-like quality as at that setting, the MBA uses an internal resolution of 5K, then scales it down to 2560, which is exactly 2:1.

Most HDMI adaptors, and even USB-C to HDMI cables, will only support 4K at 30Hz, which is why I went with Apple's pricy adaptor (but then again, on a MBA, I needed the extra ports anyway). The MBA only has USB-C ports. Your Mac mini has HDMI, so use the cable that came with the monitor, or splash out on a nice expensive cable that can carry 60Hz.
