Apple know full well that if their bottom-of-the-range laptops could handle two or more external displays, a whole chunk of their 'Pro'-buying market would just buy Airs [/cynic]

Apple used to limit non-pro laptops to screen mirroring only. There were firmware hacks to enable screen spanning, but was obviously unsupported by Apple and messing up firmware on Apple kit is usually a bad time.

That’ exactly what I would do.. Spec a Air with 24GB of RAM and call it a day
