Just received mail with ETA from Adorama CS for my 12/30 MBP 16/512/Grey BTO. I just wonder how they are sorting the orders. Are all discounted products are delayed?
I would think so, but hard to really know without clear pattern

For submitted to manufacturer orders, usually card is charged the next day. You would assume that it will give you more of less a good estimate if you compare by then ordering directly from Apple, but in my case still off for later 2 weeks than what Apple would have delivered should I purchase from them. also the delivery seem to have come from Adorama warehouse vs expected directly from Apple.

I ordered mine on 11/27/2020... still haven't heard anything...
Ordered MBA 8gb/256gb on 11/30 and still waiting...
If you buy from Apple, their site says delivery 2/9-2/16 so maybe...

just hang on!

so far so good with mine! the wait was worth it. together with the discount given by Adorama early December for the insider code
Well, I called Adorama a few days ago to be told that I had slid back into the “no eta or even idea when it might happen” category. Having spent probably 25k at Adorama over the past decade and a half, and soon to be dropping 1 to 2k on new camera equipment, I expressed my dissatisfaction (politely). I asked what they were going to do to keep my business moving forward. A coupon code to apply to one of the upgraded m1 macs, or maybe on my upcoming camera purchase? She told me bluntly that they couldn’t give me a coupon code because the MacBook Air that they agreed to sell me was discounted. ?

I gave her the opportunity to sell me a more expensive computer. Even with a coupon code, I likely would’ve dropped an additional $300. Instead they lost a long-time customer.

I canceled my MBA and ordered directly from Apple (and I already have my shipping window). I guess b&h or Amazon will be getting my upcoming camera order, instead.

what a loss for them. definitely leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. I really am surprised how they are handling the M1 ordering and fulfillment process. obviously a hit and miss!

hope you get yours soon into your liking.

It seems to be hit or miss. A lot of people are saying the same about B&H orders. I ordered a CTO M1 MacBook Air (16GB/512GB/7-Core GPU) on 11/30 and it arrived 1/4. I guess I was lucky, since others have reported not getting theirs, or waiting much longer.

Ugh, this is very frustrating reading everyone’s experience, doesn’t exactly encourage me. I ordered MBA 16/512 on 12/31 - submitted to Apple 1/4. Adorama is telling me the ship date is first week of March. This is the same timeframe if I ordered direct with Apple today. I don’t understand how it can take over 2 months for them to ship this, and without any remorse from Customer Service. For whatever it’s worth I did receive the $150 discount as well.

Any recourse or suggestions? Adorama couldn’t even guarantee the ability to cancel the order.

that's the problem with these order with Adorama, they have a "disclaimer" that it cannot be cancelled as it will be passed on to manufacturer a day or so after and you will be charged. from their perspective, the order is considered "complete" once yours is submitted to manufacturer

better to give them a call and be clear on your options. when you ordered, what was the timeframe indicated? I had a screenshot and used it as a basis that it should be 4-5 weeks (at that time I ordered).

FWIW, some folks would still await longer period due to the "discount" but at least they should be very clear/transparent on the timeline.

I regret ordering from Adorama. Mine was a BTO 13” M1 16GB 1TB SSD. Took advantage of the $100 off.

The gave an estimate on shipping (order in Dec. shipping in Feb.) after that there was no way to track the order. It was being drop shipped. Any check with Adorama just gave the same answer.

Finally got the unit. Purchased AppleCare for it. Some sort of special “no fuss” sign up. Took 3 days of chat and email to get it started. Apple said they had never heard of it, to check with Adorama. Called Apple on the phone and the tech said they weren’t aware of Adorama.

Two days ago the keyboard and trackpad stopped working. After chatting with Apple, took it to Apple store. They confirmed the problem and said it had to been sent in for repair. After much discussion the person went to talk with someone. The came back and said they normally might have been able to exchange it but since I hadn’t purchased directly from Apple, that they couldn’t so either I could talk to Adorama about getting it exchanged or they would do what the initially said which was to ship it into repair - two week turn around.

The $100 wasn’t worth it at all.

☹️Did you buy the AppleCare plan before the issue?

what an experience! I saw in a thread that sending back to Adorama was a breeze. perhaps opt for a refund and go directly with Apple? for the hassle, yes it ain't worth it..

Since my experience with Adorama on the AppleCare application was so poor I was reluctant to get them involved in anyway. Thanks for the advice though, 20/20 hindsight I should have thought about thaT.

Not sure what Adorama’s policy for returns is and how many hoops I would have to jump through to prove it is a defective unit.

Today is 2/22 still no update of my 12/30 order. Even their ETA is ********. How do you know when a backordered product is shipped? They send any mail notification?

Adorama sent confirmation to me as well when shipped. But I had to press for ETA and do some follow-ups

Just got notification mail from Adorama on 2/22 midnight. UPS signature verified delivery within NY, so expecting it by today within few hours.

How many of you will order from Adorama again?

After my experience with them shipping me a 2020 MBP 13 last June I swore I would never use them again. While it was nice to save $200, it was not worth the lack of communication and long (3 weeks) shipping delays.

I would, but they had the M1 Mac Mini I wanted in stock, and slightly discounted, so I got it in 2 days.

I don't think I would have used them if it was a BTO/Backorder situation.

Just received my MBP 16/512 BTO. with $150 discount. Ordered on 12/30 received on 2/23. If I ordered directly to apple it’d take 3 weeks+ probably because of high demand. For the discounted price its not that bad, but they should inform customer time to time and should mention their website that it’ll take up to 1-3 months to deliver.
