I've got a 14" m1 max. I'll charge it fully and not let it go to sleep, and let it sit idle doing nothing. If you want me to do another test let me know, that's the easiest for me since I've got other things to do today unfortunately lol. If there's an automated web browser loop test, I could run that too.

Lol I didn't see the option right at the top to not turn display off. OK, trying now. Will fully charge battery then run the idle test today.

How everyone's got 12-14-16hours?
I have mine for 4 days, but never had over 8hrs. Just browsing and messaging.

The 16 pro should be the best at battery life!

I think those tests were probably done with a lot lower brightness perhaps, and low power mode on maybe? No idea.

Looks like dropping a little bit fast?
Not at all. 7% use after 90 minutes would give 21.5 hours if linear.

I doubt this is linear though; devices tend to take some time to drop below 100%, and then drop more rapidly. We need to see consumption in the middle of the discharge period to determine the rate.

That's what I also thought (about 16" pro battery).
I don't know how they tested it, but I'm keeping the brightness 5 "points" below MAX.

14 max, 66% at 4 hours idle screen on (will check brightness later, but in settings it had dim screen checked), 1:05PM.

My commentary, if I was actually using the laptop, not sure where battery would be, not as long as lasting as I would hope but we can see tomorrow.

Low power mode is also unchecked.

What’s the screen brightness at?
I will check later. I didn't modify it from default setting that's checked: dim screen on battery.

I think tomorrow's web browsing test will reveal interesting information of 14max battery life.

I have to step out for about 4 hours. I don't want to take the laptop in my car, can't stabilize it on seat. Left it on kitchen counter. Hopefully there is battery left when I get back, but we won't get any more intermediate checks on this test until then.

Thank you for the test.
If my math is correct, the battery dropped rapidly at the beginning (7% after 9 minutes) then kept a linear pace.
You should hit 0 after about 715 minutes or 12 hours.
Any third-party running such as Dropbox or Spotlight Indexing, Time Machine, etc?

Keep us posted.

Stock install, updated to 12.0.1, tg pro is running. I prob should have closed it, temp was around 40-45c no fans running.

5:20PM
Idle, screen on whole time.
12% battery.

So almost 8.5 hours in.

I don't think this bodes well for actual use. I'll say for a $4000 laptop, not sure if I'll be happy with the battery life I expect after actually using it lol, we'll see tomorrow.

It's probably very powerful, but I might swap it for a 14 pro after we get other people's battery and performance metrics in the next week or so.

6:18 PM, 2%.
So a little over 9 hours. If we can hit 6:35 PM we will get 9.5 hours on idle.

6:38 PM, 14" M1 MAX 64GB went to sleep.

Exactly 9.5 hours of idle before drained. I'll let you guys know what the brightness level was. Also remember, I didn't check "low power" mode, whatever that will do.

I will charge it to 100% and let it watch YouTube tonight. Don't know how much damage I'm doing by cycling the battery fully like this, I imagine not much.

Actually these tests sound promising. If you can get around 8 hours of actual use in, it should be quite decent.

But can I? Idle only got 9.5 hehe. We should all place bets. I’m thinking I’ll get only 6 hours of browsing and coding on 14 max/64Gb. I’ll install VS code tonight and start programming tomorrow.
