Your test results are similar to mine, although mine was with a different application set.I have a MacBook Pro M1 Max and a MacBookPro M4 Max both with 64GB.
I am running Maya 2025.3 and rendering the same 125 frame animation on both.
The M1 rendered in 55 mins.
The M4 rendered in 24 mins.
A 35 gig mkv rendered down to 5 gb in Handbrake, took...
M1 Mac mini base (8gb)- 55 minutes
M4 Mac mini base (16gb) - 25 minutes.
So for me, yeah, M4 twice as fast.
