I have an M1 iPad Pro with the keyboard. I personally don’t see any reason to upgrade at all. No matter what they throw in this next iPad, it won’t be enough for me to upgrade to the next one. I doubt it will change the way I use my iPad. However, if they introduce pro apps on that thing, I would be pretty upset if it was not given to the M1…such as Final Cut Pro…If they limited that app to the M2 iPad Pro, I would know 100% That Apple is really limiting the others. But let’s be real…we know they are doing that. Haha.

I would love to see:
  • 14 in mini-led screen option
  • landscape orientation selfie cam
  • M2
  • more ram
  • maybe finally surprising us with professional software like Final Draft, for example.
  • don't care about wireless charging or cameras speced up to iPhone 14. I rarely if ever use my iPad camera for taking pictures.
Probably pipe dreams, but there it is.
That is not a Pro, it is an iPad Studio;)!
They already made that screen, that’s Macbook 14 inch Pro! I’m sure 14" iPad Pro would sell to some small % of people, as well as their newest Apple Watch Ultra.
When I am looking at my 12.9" XDR I sometimes think that yes, I could only go bigger, not smaller.

International price hikes of 10-25%.

But seriously, whilst M2 seems a given at this stage, considering the state of iPadOS I don’t see the need for that power… yet.

I’d like to see some minor design changes. A bump from 11” to 12” and 12.9” to 14” achieved through smaller bezels and minor increases in form factor (essentially a repeat of 2018).

Landscape FaceTime camera makes sense. Improvements to the main camera… meh, no need on an iPad.

The 12.9 was said to only attract a few % people. I see more and more of them in the wild. 14 inch would essentially be the foot print of the first generation 12.9 Pro.

There is already 4 (technically 5) sizes across the whole line up. I don’t think it matters as each model/size is really aimed at a different type of user. The existing 12.9 is popular amongst digital artists, graphic designers etc and many of those would probably appreciate a larger screen.

That said, personally I think Apple would be better selling a 12” and 14” Pro, which they should be able to achieve without making the existing form factor too much bigger. Rather than a third design. But a third model would allow them to charge even more which we know is what Apple will be really considering here.

I think Apple will keep all the existing sizes and add the 14.1in. It's no longer the Steve Jobs era. Apple knows it can make even more money like this and I think most consumers are happy with having more choice.

Apple removed the 12" Macbook, the 27" iMac so there is a cleaner line up
I dont think Apple will keep all the current sized and add this...12.9" and 14" are too close and for Apple to remove the 12.9" is the right business call since the 14 panel is used on the Macbook pro also
But we will see

A mini-LED or OLED 11”, that’s what I need to upgrade my 2018 11”. In just a few short years my iPad went from being my best portable display to my worst. Unfortunately I think they will keep the same display this update too, and if so I’m staying on my 2018 model. And take another round of arguing with myself regarding the 12,9”, just to end up with the same “it’s too big”. :)

I am in same boat, except I paid £250 for a magic keyboard which I really like for 11" model so moving to 12.9" feels like a waste

And I have the Smart Keyboard Folio, while not as expensive as the Magic Keyboard, still a waste if I move. But for me it's the size that is the biggest hurdle. I would probably enjoy the larger screen, but I almost always have my Ipad with me on my motorcycle travels, and it fits just perfect in my tank bag. The 12,9" not at all.

I could make it work of course, but then I almost feel like I might as well bring my 14" Macbook Pro instead. So I really like the 11" form factor. It's just a great size in between my phone and computer.

Let us all hope that we'll see a screen update on the 11"!

Ask the iMac lovers and they think there is now an abysmal sized hole in the lineup;).

There is always this contrast between those like you who would like Apple's offer to be "streamlined" and those who believe more choice for buyers is better, not worse, for both Apple and consumers, as long as the line is clear and well presented (but again this can be subjective).
I believe the 12in MacBook and the 27in iMac are both coming back (maybe the 12in at 12.5in), it's just a matter of time.
As you say, we will see.

When Steve took over Apple, it was near bankruptcy and needed to downsize its product lines by necessity. That is not exactly the case anymore. The user base is also much more varied today meaning that Apple customers require more choices.
