Ok. Case closed - no bend gate
Oh, there will be a bend gate. “I didn’t have anywhere else to put my iPad before the big football game, so I shoved it down the back of my pants right next to the hip pads and but the end of the game, IT WAS BENT! Devices should be able to withstand normal wear and tear like, oh, I don’t know, missing the tackle that could have won the big game and being so pissed you grab whatever’s nearby, maybe something sticking out of your pants, andslam it to the ground and punch it a few times. That’s something I’m sure all my viewers will understand. Likecommentandsubscribe!”

What a bummer you waste some expensive piece of technology only to prove that it doesn't really matter the durability that people are looking for is insane that you're that careless with your stuff you shouldn't use it

There's whole entities that crash many brand new cars every day to apparently gauge the safety of passengers in collisions.

Shame on them. Let them pesky humans die in car crashes. Why waste some perfectly good cars or tablets in pursuit of some kind of consumer benefit analysis? What's important is company products & profit! /s*

Besides, when it comes to Apple stuff, if anything at all goes wrong, it has to be the users fault, cheap Chinese chargers, someone else's ancillary product, etc. Apple cannot make any mistakes. /s*

IMO: if they purchased these devices to use them in this way, that's THEIR business. Once purchased, Apple no longer owns them. Anyone should do with their owned things whatever they want to do with them... as long as they don't harm others.

*middle 2 paragraphs are sacarsam in case some of us are not getting it.

Poor example. Cars are highly regulated devices that have to stand up to rigorous testing or they can’t be deployed. That isn’t the case with an iPad. In the case of the iPad we have amateurs bending them for clicks. Did Apple do internal bend testing? Certainly they did. Is there any regulation requiring Apple to apply bend tests to the device? No.

While I can understand where your comparison comes from - and I agree with it to a point, there are subtle and huge differences.

First off, performing crash tests on vehicles is a legally mandated thing to do. There are strict guidelines on how they can be carried out, and there’s agencies to ensure everything is done, legitimately improperly.

I also agree that it’s very important for consumers to see these types of scenarios, especially if you’re going to be asked to pay almost $2000.

But these guys aren’t following any sort of guidelines or protocols. They’re all just going about it differently and arbitrarily.

For me, it would be great if there was an agency that had to test the durability of these products, but Youtubers are not. They are usually ridiculed with bias, and are more concerned with getting clicks, then ensuring that you are informed.

I used to really like JerryRigEverything. But man has that guy's head gotten big. He comes across so smug and "I know so much more than you" now I can't hardly stand watching his videos anymore.
A lot of them end up this way. Once they pass the 0.5-1M followers mark they think they're super celebrities. Like at Linus and Marques Brownlee.

They start attacking the hand that fed them to become "popular"
Look at Marques Brownlee. He hasn't posted an iPad review. Just an "impression" in which he seemed "attaching" Apple.

I am sure if it wasn't;t for Apple, Marques Brownlee wouldn't have as many followers today.

Apple should make a video commercial in which they try to bend the new iPad with a grand piano or something 🤔

TBH, I understand the waste issue, but we should look in our own backyard. There are millions of people in the world that don’t have any trash to dispose. They use, reuse or recycle everything.

We use resources to make money. YouTubers are doing the exact same thing.

I ask just one thing of Zack. DON'T SCRATCH THE SIDE OF DEVICES WITH A BLADE. It makes me shiver in pain. Arghh!

It was painful to watch. Stopped within 2 minutes.

The comment that Jerry could feel the reinforced rib running down the centre, through the screen, before he bent it... is that really a thing??
