I feel that looks a little over engineered and bulky.

When I bought my 11" iPad Pro I went through quite a few cases trying to find a suitable one that provided reasonable protection and was stable (particularly when propping it up in bed).

I found Zugu Cases to be ideal.

The magnets for the cover and back support are strong and things don't flop open. It provides reasonable protection with reinforced edges, I would say midway between a tank and slim case. But the big selling point for me is the ridges you see in the base that the support hinge rests in, this makes all the difference when resting it on your stomach or an uneven surface making it a lot more stable.

One concern I had was that because of the way the cover flips out (the inside faces down) it would collect dirt and debris and possibly damage your screen when you close it. I have not found this to be the case.

I have had the case for 5+ years on my 2018 11" iPad Pro and only recently has some of the material started coming away from structure. I could fix it with a little bit of glue but I can't be bothered because it doesn't detrimentally affect performance.

I'm considering buying a 2024 iPad and will definitely buy the same case again.

I feel the need to indicate that I make it a point not to use technology in bed if I can help it. I even charge my phone in a different room.

Aye.

While I do charge my iPhone in my BR, it is merely an audiobook-lullaby device there.

I have an iP9 and an iPP 12.9, and neither have even been to that side of the house ;)

11" all day for bedtime! Actually I should have probably said all night... Unless you sleep during the day... Ok nevermind but yea lol

So I just got my 2018 11" iPad Pro out, to try the beta (which I've never done before.)

This thing looks like a mini, now :D.

But it's served me well, can't knock it.

Found the 13 m4 no good in bed, gave it a good shot; sticking with my 11 M1 which is very comfortable (although its developed a minor screen defect only visible in the dark that drives me crazy).

(Speaking of using iPads in bed, I use Accessibility to bring the white point down and found the OLED display to be buggy at low levels. Not sure what the deal was there, perhaps it will be corrected in the next iteration).

I’m using my old iPad now, and I swear it feels the same weight as my new M4.

Objectively, I believe that both sizes suit individual use cases.

For bedtime use I’d stay with the 11”. I love my 12.9 but it’s unwieldy in bed unless you’re just watch move/tv/videos.
My in-bed go to is my iPad mini.

The new M4 Pros are so much lighter.

Id say equal to, if not lighter than my 11” 2018 iPad Pro.

The problem is that this is the kind of question where answers by others are irrelevant because it's a personal preference issue. And where you likely won't the answer for yourself until you've actually tried something out.
Absolutely true. But he asked for opinions. He could buy, try, return.

I have both of the new ones, and the 11" is great, but the new 13" is markedly improved over the last version.

I would get the 13" no matter what. It's odd though, as initially the 12.9 was a 'clownish' oddity, but they just have done wonders for it.

Smaller hands down. 11" is already pretty big for a bed time device. Typing on it while laying in bed is hard enough... 13" would be uncomfortable for me. The Z Fold unfolded size or a little larger was perfect.

If you are going to hold it, get the 11” (or better yet, the mini). I use a case that is stable on my bed, so I went with the 13”.

It is funny I got in the habit of laying in bed so I could comfortably see the screen on my iPhone because I was so near sighted without glasses I had to keep the iPhone's screen up close. Now after cataract surgery I have wear reading glasses to do the same thing. The iPad works great but I still like it up close to reach the screen for touch control.

What changed your mind?
So I had an eye test today.

20/20 vision, but I have a small prescription for reading & such.

I was all set to have laser eye surgery, but the optician said there’s no way I need that.

Maybe my eyes will get used to it?

What is it with your eyesight that you believe the 11” size may help with? Being able to hold it closer?
