So, I ordered an M4 Max 16” within a few minutes of orders going live and the store shows Nov 19th delivery. Curious as to what others are seeing for their order dates, and if Nov 8th is limited to Stock models.

Interesting. I did the high end chip with 128GB, 2TB, and space black, wonder if that’s it. It showed Nov 19th from the first moment the store went live.

After the announcement, I ordered the Apple M4 Pro chip with 12‑core CPU, 16‑core GPU which was Fri 8th until I changed SSD to 1TB and it went to Fri 11th.

Today I decided to swap to Apple M4 Pro chip with 14‑core CPU, 20‑core GPU (already with 1TB) and the date is Fri 8th again.

I guess they need a day or two to mod the stock model.

I did some test orders, and it looks like it might be the high-end Max chip. I'd be curious to know if anyone with the top chip and 128GB is seeing a date earlier than Nov 19th.

They don’t make them for you individually. They are shipped from China in groups with different specs. Thus different days of arriving.

By January they will have enough of every variety to ship the same day arriving by air to you in 2-4 days.

By next June, you will be able to buy refurbs for $300 off.

I ordered the 14” M4 Max (16-40 cores)/64GB/2TB/nano around 2:30ET on 10/30 (so around 90 mins after the announcement) for store pickup. It always showed pickup 11/8 and has just now (4:30pm ET 11/1) changed status to “shipped” and still maintains the 11/8 pickup.

Turns out I'm glad it was delayed. Ended up cancelling and switching to silver, and with more storage. Definitely related to the max chip - was Nov 8th until I switched to that one, then Nov 19th again.

14"/16c/40c Max/2TB/128GB — 11/8 delivery.

I'm coming from a maxed out M3 (and M2/M1 before that). The speed increases, large or small, matter to me in my photo/video work. Sometimes I'm on the sidelines at a game and have minutes to do an import, edit and transmission. It's not 100% of the time, but when it matters it really matters. A few seconds can make a difference at times.

(oops...edit to fix a typo! meant 16-core not 14-core.)

I ordered M4 Max 64 memory 16x40 16" black 1TB SDD on Oct 31st. I got an email saying it was dispatched and delivery would be around the 15th November. There was a tracking link which said delivery is 11th November.
The tracking showed it was leaving Shanghai. I live in Donegal.
I don't know how useful this information is. Someone tell me if it is.

Yeah, it looks like it's the 128GB/40 GPU chip that triggers the delay in the 16's. Yet they charged my card yesterday, even though it still shows the 19th, so something is definitely strange.

If they give you a date, why question it?

From what I can tell, that model never was available on the release date.

I'm not sure this is correct.

I placed my order on launch day, October 30th @ 8:14am Pacific (=3:14pm UTC). The announcement happened at 8:00a PT, but the store didn't update for at least a few minutes.... so, I ordered pretty early.

I knew I was ordering the M4 Max with 128GB RAM, and the only way to get that was the 16c/40c chip.

I recall seeing both the 14" (which I ordered, as shown above) AND the 16" available with a delivery date of Nov 8th.

Mine went to "Preparing to ship" 2-3 days later and still shows as that status, w/ a delivery date of Nov 8th. I expect it to go to "Shipped" sometime in the next 24h — likely about 16-24h from now, with overnight delivery.

I was charged on October 30th. I haven't paid close attention in the past but thought I was charged only when my orders shipped—or at least when they were "Preparing...". This means I was charged when I ordered.

When I placed my order on the 30th, It was saying delivery on 18th Nov. I just reviewed a shipping notification from UPS. and an email from Apple about it. Here's the amusing / confusing thing though. The Apple "Your shipment is on its way" email states "Delivers 13 Nov, 2024 via Standard Delivery" and the webpage loaded by clicking the order info states "Arrives Wed Nov 13". The UPS tracking info however states "Friday, November 08 by End of Day" :D

It'll get here when it gets here :D

I ordered a 16” M4 Pro with 1TB SSD and 48GB unified memory on launch day, a few hours after they were announced. Initially, it was scheduled to deliver on November 19th, but I just got a notification that it shipped today and will arrive on the 15th! Then I checked the tracking link, and… it’s actually set to arrive tomorrow? Not sure I believe it, but either way, it’s ahead of schedule, yay!

I wonder how the shipping times compare to what we see on iPhones? I could it being similar as you probably want people who have pre-ordered a product to get it as close to the official public release of the device. Obviously configuration options for the MacBooks vs iPhone vary a bit more so that can explain some of the longer times.

I got the same thing. Originally 19th, then Apple notification overnight stating the 15th, but UPS tracking states the 8th.

Fingers crossed!

Does anyone have any magical powers for figuring out where the flights are going to from Zhengzhou, China?

The last updated info I have (which seems similar to what others have posted) is:

On the Way
Zhengzhou, China

11/07/2024, 12:00 P.M.

I did have a look at Flightaware, and did see some flight out to Anchorage, and I seem to recall I've seen that before for an iPhone shipment, but it was not a UPS flight. I would suspect once there it would transfer to an actual UPS plane (plus clearance into a different country and all that stuff). But as to where it goes from there, I don't know. I'm in Ontario, Canada, so the routing from there (if of course that was the flight my shipment was on) would likely be different from if it were going elsewhere in the US.

I have seen Mount Hope, ON mentioned on tracking info before. That's basically John C. Munro Hamilton Airport, which does have a UPS Hub, so maybe I should just look for inbound flights?

If you live in the US and your package will travel with the same route as mine, it will fly to Incheon, Republic of Korea first, and then fly to Anchorage.

And to add some further detail:

* Departs Zhengzhou on day 1 @ ~5pm local time
* Departs Incheon that night ~midnight
* Departs Anchorage, day 1 ~4pm (yes, same day due to crossing the date line)
* Arrives Louisville on day 1 ~midnight
* "Import Scan" in Louisville on day 2 ~noon

Then.... it departs Louisville on day 2 for local delivery on day 3. In theory it could arrive on day 2 but that's not so likely in my experience. It seems to take the better part of the day to process in Louisville and get to the final designation for delivery.
