I am guessing they are testing something here...

dot mac was down and is back up again but isn't connecting to my server or mail account.

100% of members might experience slower than normal response when using IMAP mail. Mail can be sent and received using .Mac webmail. Normal service will be restored ASAP

www.mac.com for a strange second came up as this :

The site you are trying to reach has moved.

This page can now be found at http://www.snappville.com

Please update your bookmarks. You can click on the link above to go to that site now.

And just for kicks I typed in www.me.com and the same message came up.

Then I tried .mac. and it worked this time. Hmmmm something is rotting in Denmark... :)

completely down in NYC

mail does not work on three different macs, my iphone, or on the web...

Down for me as well but I'm concerned as I'm getting a message stating that it rejected my password. Connection doctor states logging in failed, please make sure username and password are valid.

First messages I got just before were about the port 993.
If you check the help site they tell you that this is normal. When the email server is down, email clients (not web-based) will report the password being wrong because the server can't authenticate it.

one would think that when you pay for a service this day in age that you wouldn't be without service for this this long. I am running an ebay business and this makes it very difficult.

Just to add mine too is down. It's amazingly frustrating. I'm on my trial for .mac and this had seriously made me reconsider purchasing. Is this just an unfortunate blip in their service or is this normal?

This is not normal. They have a real good track record.

Or at least have had...

I guess that's nice to know. But you really don't expect to have this sort of thing on a paid service even when you are on you free trial.

OK ... how that heck can I get any work done like this!!

Guess I will have to go see what my wife is doing upstairs instead :D;)

Cheers.

Earlier today, I couldn't get it through my iPhone. Then, Apple Mail stopped working with it. So I was still able to get it through the browser, but no longer. Everything is down here.

It's been down for me and a lot of other people all afternoon. Just check out all of the complaints on the Apple support site. This is the last straw - I'm going to gmail. I've had it with the completely unreliable .mac that I pay good money for, when free accounts like gmail do so much better. Apple had their chance. Not anymore.

Aw c'mon y'all... dot mac rules and we all know it. They must be having some serious issues and well, sh** happens, even at paradise beach.;) What would all you people have done ten or eleven years ago when you had to wait three days for mail and that was just to send a letter across town! Be patient...............

Chicago, Illinois - .Mac is down. It's been like this all day.

It sucks today.

Did you all know, that as a point of fact, between the time mac.com went down and the time it will be operational again, at least 3 people WILL DIE of boredom? :p

Ok, this is a bit strange...

When is Apple's next WWDC event?

Isn't it in about a week from now? They can't been testing the site this early can they?

If this is planned, they should have sent out bulletins to warn of downtime. This is a pay service after all.

Well i am new to the .mac service. I like it but extended down time doesn't make me want to put out the 99 bucks for the full membership. Don't get me wrong the geek in me really would like to keep the .mac name even if they switch over to what ever this Mobile Me is. But the yearly fee is a little steep
