I was at work when I posted that, and said I had to check at home, which I have since done, and I'm using MPEG-4 and AAC Audio.:p

hmm, jumping back and forth b/w threads. . . . i think ill try to keep everything over here. a question came up from a different thread i started about the griffin powermate. the question is how to get the powermate to work with the elgato eyeTV software. so ill leave the answer here cause i think it has more to do with the DVR project.

open system prefs then click the powermate icon. at the top left of the window is a section called setting. the selection by default is probably on 'global setting' click global setting then select Eye TV. if Eye TV is not an option (i had no options with the intel version of the powermate software, the intel version seems to be lacking some of the features of the powerPC version of the software. . . odd) click the add setting button. you will be prompted to select an application, so select the Eye TV application from your applications folder (or wherever you may have stashed the app) once the Eye TV application has been selected, change the settings under the Action section of the PowerMate preference pane. for example chose user action to be "rotate right" then Computer action to "send key" and chose the right arrow as the key. this will fast forward through a recording. rotate left chose send key and left and click chose send key and space bar. this will pause. you can play around with the settings. control-space allows you to skip through larger chunks of time. you can even customize how much time you skip under the preferences within the eye TV properties. i have mine set up to edit, so i can edit out the commercials quickly, not just fast forward through them. hope this helps!

if anyone knows of any different drivers for the powermate please let me know! id love to do more with it, like double clicking and such.
