Does this mean that any 10.6.3 build DVD will work or does it have to specifically be for the Mini? I've got to ring up everyone I know to see who's bought a Mac this week.

Have you tried this?I just confirmed for myself it will NOT recognize all the hardware. No SD and no wired ethernet. Updates are failing, not looking good
I'm still experimenting ....
Have you tried this?

I'm trying it now and will report back results, if any.
It was actually very easy, and now I have a dmg that I can use to install anytime.I read through that thread, and I would rather find the 2010 Mac Mini Restore discs than go through that mess.

You won't have to touch the command line if you don't want to. I just downloaded and used Kext Utility... just drag-and-drop the kext file (in the case of the second kext, make the changes first then drag-and-drop) to the Kext Utility icon and it takes care of everything for you.I'll have to give it a try. I use macs because I hate the command linebut it's worth doing. Thanks again.

A coworker of mine just purchased a MacBook Pro 13" which has essentially the same innards at the new Mac Mini (Core2Duo + 320M). Would it be safe to assume that OS disc for this system would work with the new Mac Mini Server?

I believe the SD and Ethernet drivers differ.
lol, nice try, ask a friend or someone who owns a client mac mini to let you rip his discs.are there mac mini (client version) disk available for download anywhere?
The link I posted above WORKS... so far. I still have to make the kext changes, but I am posting from the SL Client drive on my Mini Server. I'll post screenshots for proof once I'm done... one thing I'll add to the linked instructions though:
Once I have the kexts changed and updated, I plan on making a dmg of the updated client drive for backup and re-loading. This will allow me to re-install a fully updated and functioning SL Client drive on the Mini Server.
The longest part so far is the installation to the external drive.
I got the new mini server. But I wanted to install the normal OSX 10.6, not the server edition. So I called Apple and they assured me that the snow leopard dvd that is sold at Apple.com are 10.6.4 already,so I am good to go. You guys should try the same.
Another questio`: Anyone of you are running the server snow leopard in 1080p ? do you get a little slugishness at the dock sometimes ? Kind of a little lag ?
Thank you!
That is a very interesting post. There is an extreme amount of posting on this forum as well as the Apple and 123 Forums that say otherwise. I will be watching here, but from what I have read the discs currently out do not install on 2010 MacMini Server. I hope you are right as I would not hesitate to spring for $29 if I can be positive your information is correct. I bought a Snow Leopard Retail DVD about two months ago and it is most certainly not able to install on Server. It is rejected out of hand as not compatible.
It would make a nice coaster if not for that hole in the middle.
Oh well, I can see why a 2 months old snow leopard dvd wont install in the new mini, but the new ones should be fine. I was surprised too when the adviser told me that the snow leopard that are sold now in apple.com are already 10.6.4. And if anything goes wrogn, he also assuredme that I can have my money back. Thats good =D.
It may have taken some effort, but it was also a good learning experience. I am talking to you on Firefox in my Server Client 10.6.4 installation. The Ethernet Kext fix worked perfectly and as far as I can see, this installation is working fine. Wish I could say the same about the XP in BootCamp. I installed the exact XP Pro disk on the Mini Client and it is great. Have a whole list of drivers missing in XP here though. Have you actually installed that NEW SnowLeopard disk on your 2010 Mini Server?
If all is as well in this installation as it seems, I also saved $29. I work cheap.
