The low end device now lists 3-5 days to ship, while the high-end is still 1-3 days.

Any bets on when these get updated? I'm holding off anxiously...

you're not alone. people wandering around the forum these couple days are all getting anxious.

Both configs now say 3-5 business days...

I checked the Dutch store just for curiosity, and in Europe they're still saying it ships within 24 hours. They must have more inventory there to go through.

Unfortunately I went and bought one a week and a half ago not thinking they would update. I already ordered the 4 gig of ram and 500gb 7200 rpm drive to go inside. As long as they don't put a better video card or bluray in it I will be fine but if they do that I will be upset.

Mac Mini will just get spec bumps....unless they really want to put the Mobile Core i7...it only has a TDP of 45w, which really isn't that much considering I'm sure the Core 2 Duo T7600 (common upgrade in the previous generation) had a TDP of 35w. Looking at current Core 2 Duo Mobile offerings, the top of the line T9900 is only 35w. Let's hope they decide we need that in a Mini!!!!

Do I think that the Core i7 Mobile is doable? Yes, because I believe Apple can get a custom lower TDP chip from Intel.......

Anyways, look for a specs bump next week I hope....

I have a hypothetical question for you guys based on the current 3-5 day shipping time:

Lets say I purchase a Mac mini right now from the Apple Online store. If the mini is updated this coming Tuesday, would Apple send me the newest unit or the exact one I ordered?

I wasn't for sure what sort of policy they have on this, so I thought I would check with you all.

Thanks!

I too have been anxious about this. I had thought they were going to come out with something new before the 9th. Now people are saying October 15 just like how it was last year? Really 7 days before Windows 7? I was really tempted to purchase the educational priced low-end mac mini to put in 4gb of ram but I will hold off and wait patiently...

My prediction

Unfortunately I went and bought one a week and a half ago not thinking they would update. I already ordered the 4 gig of ram and 500gb 7200 rpm drive to go inside. As long as they don't put a better video card or bluray in it I will be fine but if they do that I will be upset.

My prediction: a totally underwhelming update. Base model updated to 2GB RAM and maybe a 250GB hard drive. In other words, if you want a Mini with 4GB/500GB, there will be no benefit - you'll just be removing more RAM and HD to upgrade it. Would love to see the base model have the 2.26Ghz processor, but based on the current retail price of this processor, I don't see it happening.

uhhh :) until yesterday the mini mac, in the danish apple store, had a 24hour shipping. Now its up to 5 days.... now what could that mean???????

I thought the last one was a spec-bump. The design of the case didn't change.

The case didn't, but the internals are entirely different. They changed from the cr@p Intel GMA integrated graphics to the NVIDIA 9400m. They also went from a socketed CPU to being soldered to the logicboard.

I would really like to see them do a Mac Mini Pro.

They could use the quad-core Nahalem based Xeon L3426 processor (1867 MHz) with a reasonable 45W TDP. Give it an aluminum case with lots of ways to easily access all the internals. Oh to dream…

Well...I am waiting! I hope it is tomorrow! No reason to jump on old technology (no matter how big the upgrade is) if there is a good chance tomorrow is the day. I would chill...

Okay.

I couldn't stand waiting any longer so I ordered a Mac mini through the online education store after no updates were announced Tuesday morning. The shipping estimate was consistent with the website (3-5 business days), until now.

I just received a shipment notification and my Mac mini has shipped from Shenzen, with an estimated delivery date of this coming Monday, October 19th.

The type of Mac mini I purchased is a CTO (base mini w/2.26GHz processor upgrade), so shipping from China isn't necessarily an uncommon thing.

Anywho, I thought I would let you all know. I will report back when the unit arrives.
