My info finally showed up. It turns out that they didn’t ship it until last night and it originated from Nashville. Delivery still on for today.

It’s odd that it shipped from Nashville and not China like everyone else’s seems to have done.

I3 base config ... will test it later

UPS was on time yesterday! Having a bit of weather here yesterday, had me concerned. Backed up my 2014 MM and set to migrate to this new one tonight.

Mine was scheduled to be delivered tomorrow but they bumped it to today! Though all the accessories are ordered, including the additional ram, will be here tomorrow.

My original delivery date was November 14-15. Then it was changed to November 9th. Now it's going to be delivered later today. This is with standard shipping. Fortunately, a needed video cable and external SSD are going to be delivered by Amazon today as well. :)

I was told the following when I ordered today: "This item will take longer than usual to ship."
It's an i7, 8GB, 512GB, 10GBe. With Express Delivery (US$8), Apple says that I'll receive it in New York six to ten days from now (Nov. 29 - Dec. 3).

I assume that it's the 8GB of RAM or the Ethernet port that is the issue, or maybe combining both.

Go big or go home....that’s my final decision. I have had a lot of problems with my first MM and as recommended by many here I returned it. Thought long and hard about the decision and elected to try another unit. I purchased the i7/32gb/2Tb unit which is a more featured unit than the previous.

Why? Want this to be my device for a long time. I already was using over 600gb of disk space after installing all of the apps, VST Plugins, loops etc. I really wanted to get away from using external drives for this. So Apple memory and storage has a price but there is also speed and convenience as well.

I also must be crazy and my logic is questionable. Lol. I return a device that isn’t working and then spend $600 more and buy another one.

I really want it to work because there isn’t an apple desktop I want right now and would prefer not using my MacBook as a desktop.

So I am going big, if it works great I will have a device that I can make work for years. If not it all goes back again and I return to my 2014 MacBook which I boot from an external SSD and continued to utilize the drives connected to it and the hubs for my midi devices.

My delivery date is 11/30 to the Apple store.

My delivery was set as Nov 28-30 but it arrived yesterday the 23rd. I’m also on the west coast. The computer shipped out of Hong Kong to Nashville to Portland, OR to hang out for Thanksgiving then was delivered the day after. i5/8gb/1tb

We’re coming from opposite directions on this. When it became possible to separate Logic and its samples/loops a few weeks ago, I had the latter (they’re 50-60GB these days) on an external drive within hours of the announcement :)

Which Digital Audio/VST Workstation are you using?

I am using Logic Pro. With Native Instruments ultimate and the eastwest sound cloud already stored on external There are many more plugins like the Korg legacy and other libraries that I can’t move. External storage works better with Logic Pro but it isn’t as fast as internal.

I'm pretty amazed at this. My computer left Shenzhen this morning and was last seen at Hong Kong International Airport (Chek Lap Kok) at 10:23 p.m., local time. In Hong Kong, it's now 10 a.m. on Wednesday, so I would think that the computer is now very close to landing somewhere in the U.S., if it hasn't already.

Meanwhile, they told me, when the computer was still in China, that it will be delivered to my door in NY not just on Thursday, but by 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Good luck getting that kind of commitment on a local New York City delivery :)

So it takes two days to get a computer from Shenzhen, China to New York City*, which to me is pretty amazing.

* Jamaica, NY = John F. Kennedy International Airport
Memphis = Fedex Global Hub
Chek Lap Kok = Hong Kong International Airport
