Hi I have late 2012 with 4Gb Ram, My boot up time is much slower than Maverick also Safari for me is about the same as on Maverick I am not getting the lightning quick internet that other people are talking about also I have had to do a forced restart as not getting passed the boot up screen a couple of times, so for me a little buggy I think, but having said all that I do like Yosemite.

I just got a 2012 mac mini, and it seems for Yosemite, you may need to upgrade the ram.....

There's a pretty long thread on the apple support community forums about this problem. Many of us are finding that the wakeup freeze is happening when two audio interfaces are enabled. I swapped my HDMI cable (with audio) for an HDMI->DVI cable (thereby removing the second audio interface) and now the system wakes up properly. At best I'd call this a workaround as things always performed correctly with this setup under 10.9.

BTW, the thread is here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6605926

awesome, thank you. i had a feeling it might be related to my HDMI cable. If I turned the mini on, immediately after powering off, I got a bunch of snow on the screen. interestingly, after another clean install, waking up with the power button didn't work either. i'm now using my thunderbolt/vga.

Clean Yosemite install on Late 2009 MM. Installed and works great although a lot slower boot than previous OSXs (Snow Leopard, Mountain Lion etc).

I am running HDMI and I had 16GB RAM. I had the slow wake/freeze right after a clean install of Yosemite. This was using the original 1TB 5400 RPM drive that came with it. Next day I installed a Samsung EVO 840 256 GB SSD and no more slow wake or freeze...

I did however adjust the HDD sleep settings the day before I installed the SSD and it seemed to help the the slow wake issue for me.

I also did another clean install of Yosemite for the new SDD. My Mac Mini runs like a top now with 256 GD SSD and 1TB HDD.

I plan to eventually put in that same ssd into mine. I'll do a clean install then. Bet it makes a big difference on start up and launching things like photoshop

Once you install OS on the ssd can you just go into your old drive and pull out all your files?

I seem to have a more complicated issue...
I run my MM with a 9" DoubleSight monitor?
It's use driven. I use the VGA adaptor with a 100 ohm resistor across pins 5 and 6 to make it think there's a monitor connected.
It worked fine with Mavericks but when I upgraded to Yosemite it is unresponsive and I get an error message "your system has run out of application memory"

If if hook up an old VGA monitor it all works fine.
Anybody have any thoughts?
I already downloaded the updated driver from displaylink

Think I may have solved my freezing issue coming out of sleep. I unplugged my speakers from my Mac and left it for nearly an hour. When I tapped the trackpad and it has woken up with no problem. I'm now going to buy a Dvi cable because I currently use hdmi to hdmi

yeah, after switching from HDMI to HDMI, I haven't had a problem since.

I'm on the 2011 i5 and things feel slower than Mavs. I also now need to get more RAM, as Yosemite has my mini with very little free resources. 4 GB is no longer enough for me.

I can confirm that since I bought a dvi-d cable and used the hdmi to dvd-d I have had no problems with freezing in over 2 tests. On my third test now

Yes... You can copy everything you need over. Once I did that I then went into Disk utility and reformatted and erased the drive. Named it Data and then copied my home directory from the SSD to the HDD. Afterwards I went to preferences and users accounts and changed my home directory location. Now my home directory is on the HDD and the OS and applications are on the SSD.

To me this is a much better experience and setup compared to a fusion drive.

I have a 2011 Mini i5, 16GB Ram and Samsung 830 SSD installed, did the upgrade to Yosemite and no issues so far. I also upgraded my 2013 rMBP and it moved a bit slow, I did a complete wipe and reinstalled and its moving extremely faster now. Not sure if i'll back up the Mini and do a fresh install as yet or not.

I'm wondering if the resume-from-sleep problem has something to do with the "autopoweroff" setting getting reset after the OS upgrade. I recently bought a Mac Mini with Mavericks installed and it had this issue. If you have this issue, look at your results after running the following terminal command:

Code:
pmset -g live

Here's what my results look like:

Code:
Active Profiles:
AC Power -1*
Currently in use:
 standby 0
 Sleep On Power Button 1
 womp 0
 autorestart 0
 hibernatefile /var/vm/sleepimage
 darkwakes 0
 networkoversleep 0
 disksleep 0
 sleep 0
 autopoweroffdelay 14400
 hibernatemode 0
 autopoweroff 0
 ttyskeepawake 1
 displaysleep 0
 standbydelay 4200

Notice that my "autopoweroff" value is "0". If your "autopoweroff" is "1", your computer will automatically hibernate after "autopoweroffdelay" seconds. The default is 14400 seconds which is 4 hours. Since my "autopoweroff" is set to "0", my computer stays in regular sleep at all times and it always wakes as expected. So, if this is your problem and you would like to fix it, run the following terminal command:

Code:
sudo pmset -a autopoweroff 0

Good luck!

Haven't been able to wake my Mac Mini when using Apple TV or iPad for quite a while. Tried various Preference settings and nothing worked. This looks very promising, thanks!

I have some development on the freeze after wake up issue.
Unplugging my external speakers from the headphone socket stopped the freezing. Iphone earphones do not cause the problem, but are not a solution for me.
Now, I have to choose from having a mute Mac mini or an always awaked Mac mini

2011 mini with 16gig I haven't noticed much other than it appears to take longer to go from on to use than for Mavericks. But with regards to actual use seems fine to me. Except for the colours used for some of the icons though itunes blehh! Still only downloaded a few days ago.

The freeze of wake issue isn't just a Yosemite problem with the mini, it goes back a couple of versions of OSX.

I noticed the energy setting had my Mini to put the computer to sleep at the lowest setting. I just noticed the setting of 0 previously mentioned in this thread and will also check that setting.

My mini? Late 2012 i7 Quad 1T 16gig

The wake sleep problem is the hdmi to hdmi cable problem when using external speakers. I've been testing with apple and now use a dvd-d cable with the hdmi to dvi-d adapter. They are fully aware of this problem and working on a fix.
I spent hours trying out different combinations of cable attached to my mini and came up with this solution.
Just buy a dvd-d cable

Probably there are more than one causes of the wake/freeze issue.
This is a first for me. I have had Mountain Lion and Mavericks before, and always with the same HDMI cable to the monitor, that has no speakers.

Until now I had a pair of speakers (powered) always plugged to the headphone socket of the Mac mini. I have now tried several earphones and only my iPhone earphones - which has 3 rings on the plug - do not cause the problem.

I use
Mac mini 2012
8Gb
Apple SSD

I have the same issue.
Mac mini always connected to headphones and external HDD.
Two monitors connected (HDMI-HDMI and thunderbolt -> DIV )

1) I've disabled "Put hdd to sleep when possible"
2) I started use touchpad for waking up and it become better.

My guess the issue is coming from waking up by keyboard.
Could somebody confirm this point ?

I'm running Yosemite on a 2012 i7 Mac Mini with 16GB RAM. I am using the Apple wireless keyboard and wireless trackpad. The Mini is connected to a 23" Samsung HD TV/Monitor via HDMI cable (HDMI to HDMI). I did the upgrade from the App store and did not do a clean install. I ran the Disk Utility Program to fix permissions before and after the upgrade to Yosemite from Mavericks.

I have my Mini power savings and sleep settings mostly set to default. I have no second audio besides the sound through HDMI to TV/Monitor. Sleep settings are set at default settings but with extended time. I don't recall having had any issues with the Mini waking up from sleep. The only issue I have using HDMI to HDMI is that I have to turn the TV/monitor power back on since sleep mode completely turns is off but it has always been this way. I like Yosemite better than Mavericks except that is does boot slower than before.
